LoL!! Less is more as you get older, I always wear my lipstick even doing the house work, but my normal wear is mascara and lipstick, sometimes blusher if I look pale but thats it, I think it looks awful when you see an older woman with plastered make-up, in my younger days I would wear the works, but not any more, Oh and for very special occasions I wear eye shadow but very rarely!!!

Oh Goody, a chance to quote one of my favourite poems by WB Yeats - If I make the lashes dark And the eyes more bright And the lips more scarlet, Or ask if all be right From mirror after mirror, No vanity's displayed: I'm looking for the face I had Before the world was made. What if I look upon a man As though on my beloved, And my blood be cold the while And my heart unmoved? Why should he think me cruel Or that he is betrayed? I'd have him love the thing that was Before the world was made. Gwynne

Hi Bryan I don't wear makeup at all when I am home only if I know visitors are coming. If I go out socially I do dab a bit here and there especially around the eyes. But I am involved in Amature Theatre so then the really heavy thick stuff goes on. You look a different person with all that heavy makeup and the bright red lipstick. Mind you I can't say I like it much. I can't wait to get it all off my face at the end of the night. Clogs the skin up and you have to use lots of creams to get back to normal lol. But yes I agree it can changed the way you look. Have a good day Regards Jackie

Love that quote CB, Dolly has them by the score. Well I don't use make up it would take me far too long to do something with this face and I can't be bothered with all that. From childhood I have always wondered why women have to wear make up and men get away with being natural? it just never made sense to me. I feel very uncomfortable wearing eye shadow, massacre and lippie, can't help it never liked it just wished I had a face that didn't need it. Ah well I would probably make a pigs ear of trying to paint this face, so I don't bother. Pat x

My mother used to quote to me something her mother said to her - Little dabs of powder, Little licks of paint Make the farmer's daughter Look what she really ain't. I've never taken any notice, and if it's good enough for Joan Collins, it's good enough for me. I loved the quote Dolly Parton came out with when asked by a TV interview how much she spent per year on her appearance. She said, 'It costs a fortune to look this cheap!' Priceless! cb (hiding because she's not supposed to be here)

Oh, Lemon! We aren't twins after all! What a shame. Just think, Dan could have had double trouble! Mine's the THIRTEENTH - Unlucky for some. Bleepin' disastrous for me! AND I only missed by half-an-hour being born on the same day as Prince Charles. Glad I'm not twins with him! I caught the nose, but I think I got away with the ears! CB >|< X

When Cyrus was about 12, his mother took him to see his grandfather, Astyages, who was king of tghe Medes. He was surprised to see that his grandfather had a painted face. Astyages put the lad on the spot by asking him who was most handsome, him or Cyrus' father, king of Persia. Cyrus, wise even at that young age replied 'You are the most handsome of the Medes and my father is most handsome of the Persians.' --- Xenophon 'Cyropaedia' This was about 500 BC David
