P.S. The first film version of this tragic event was called 'Survive' in 1976. I remember because me and my family were flying out to Austria for Christmas the next day after we had been to see it at the pictures (good choice of flick NOT) and Mum packed loads of chocolate. I was 15 at the time and only a little bit nervous - lol Gaynor ps - just gave my age away! |

Roxanne, hope this does not shock you. Years ago I had a discussion about this subject with my son. I told him that I would eat him if he died first, as the survival instinct is so strong, and I hoped that he would eat me if I died first. I am hopeful it will never happen, but it was an interesting ethical dilemma, as is this one... BC |

Wouldnt by choice, but you can never tell how things will turn out, even the mildest person can turn, if it ment survival I probably would but only in the most extreme situation and only if the victim hadnt been eating garlic, I hate the muck, it permeates everything it touches. A French Marshall once said after ther Russian debacle, 'Buttock of Corporal stewed tender with an onion an a few carrots is delicious'. Well that lets me out, I was a Senior NCO!!!!!lol Len |

just a quick point how many bite your fingernails and eat them and the skin around them as well? I do So long as the skin had no visible long hairs on I think I'd give it a go, thats if I were to survive the accident or event that left me without natural food. wendy the flesheater |

As a Veggie I don't think I could eat human flesh as I can't eat Animal flesh now I cannot see myself being able to eat a fellow human being under any circumstances. Ideally I would want to wait as long as possible to be rescued & before it gets too bad get someone to kill me rather than suffer a very painful slow death of starvation, the meat eaters would be welcome to chew on my little bits of flesh and grizzle. It's a very difficult question to answer, I was asked the same question at the time when news came of the crash & what had happened. my answer was the same then as it is now. NO. Pat x |

I'd feel extramly guilty if I had to, but under extrame conditions you always do what you have to to live, self presivation and the survival of the fittest. |

Absolutely not Roxanne.... No not under any circumstances could I eat anyone I loved.... nor anyone else for that matter. I would say on whole that NO I couldn't eat human meat I just wonder if though one might be different in a survival situation.... |

Me too............ just lost nearly 6 stone so there's not much of me now either lol What it is... and I know it's a bit silly really, but it has something to do with religion I think, I'm not a practicing religious person, don't go to church or anything but I do have like a base line religion for want of a better way to put it. Something inside me tells me it isn't right.... and that's all there is to it. Strange.......... I know, but there it is. Gaynor |

What if the only person you could eat to survive was your partner, daughter, son or grandchild?? could you honestly say you could carve them up for your survival,? |

Chilling thought isn't it? 'There but for the grace of God' .... and all that. I feel sure at the moment that I wouldn't do it because the thought is repulsive and I couldn't live with it knowing what I'd done, but as most here say.... in desparation, the survival instinct tends to take over I believe. Let's pray none of us ever need to find out. |
