Winter Drawers Ever Near

Winter Drawers Ever Near Report 1 Nov 2005 08:50

Hi I hate hairdressers just as much as dentists but I went to one three weeks ago for a cut and colour. Cost me £80. £20 for the cut (my hair was already short) and £30 for the colour, and £30 because he owned the damn shop. Give him his due he told me it took 15 years off my hair. I asked him to take 15 years off my face. He had a panic attack! He recovered poor soul and told me to come back in 6 weeks. In his dreams. Aileen

Centre of Cambridge, national salon chain, £50 cut and blow dry, £70 highlights and that's special rates as I've been with them a long time and introduced several people. Daisy

I go to Bath, and all the hairdressers there are more pricey than local ones. I pay £38 for cut and blow dry, haven't had highlights for ages but I think it's about £120 (with cut as well).

About £50 for cut, highlights and blow dry locally.(Norfolk) I went into the city to have a makeover hair cut some years back at Toni and Guys. It was a revelation after years of local hairdresser doing a Princess Di style every time I went. I went back to Toni and Guys about 3 times but when I asked the cost of highlights and trim and it was £120 I decided to go locally!

I pay £15.00 for a cut and blow dry - never had a colour so dont know what the cost would be - the last time I had a perm was a home-jobbie which cost about £3.00 I think (some decades ago). Must have looked a sight as my friend's dog (who had known me for years and was really fussy) suddenly started to bark and growl at me - lol (probably thought I was a little lion) Jacqui

About £12 for a dry trim. About £45 for half head highlights, and £25 for cut blo dry. Going to have the latter done on 23rd Dec. Bit of a treat for me it will be, as its 2 and a half years since I had highlights due to lack of cash. Thank gawd for hubbys new job lol ! Elaine x

Hi Kat, i pay £25 for a trim and blow dry, and £12.50 for a dry trim. And to answer your other question, i used to to go to the Tartan house now and then, but every week about 2 or three times we used togo to The Birchwood, just outside Colchester. we had some great times there. Shirley Ann.

it does seem pretty varied, ive heard it depends on who the person is who does the work also, as they can have different rates . You tend to sit there stressed until they 'tell you the dammage' at the end ,they cant seem to tell you at the booking how much as they will say..' it depends on the length' or' how many 'rollers' are used', wether you had conditioner and how long it takes to dry etc etc... I think I struck lucky in Sudbury as their rates on the premises must be a lot lower than say the bigger towns. and I was happy to give a better tip, as I got free parking also.. In the meantime 'til my next trip to Sudbury ( next summer) i'll be snipping at what i can see in the mirror... and my husband does the back... but both he and my son wont let me touch THEIR hair LOL! cheers xkx

Nothing and neither do the girls in our family, my daughter owns her own hairdressing salon, but I know if we payed it would be quite expensive there. Davexx

£74.50 for a cut, blowdry and half head highlights. This is with a senior stylist. The girl has done my hair for over a year now, when she was just a stylist and I like how she does it!! I only get it done once every 3 months as my hair is usually well behaved.

Germaine Report 1 Nov 2005 07:46

I haven't been for a couple of years now When grandosn was born and I was working couldn't find the time so cut it myself now I daren't go LOL. It used to cost about £40 for highlights same for a perm. Cost my daughter (well her MIL she pays for her as a present) over £60 for her highlights and a trim now. Germaine x.

Every time my daughter comes over I get the full works done. I knew it would pay off letting her practise on me when she was training as she is now a very sought after stylist. I would hate to pay UK prices, it is much the same in the better salons in the bigger towns over here. It would be cheaper to pay Kellys £50 air fare!! Jill xx:)

Our local Hairdressers charge 16-50 for a cut and blow dry, the perms start at 30-00 or 45-00 for a spiral perm, colours vary depending if you have a full head or high or low lights they start from 30-00, but all these are cheaper of you are a child or OAP, but I dont have to pay anywhere near that, as shes my mate and my daughter works for her as a trainee, so in the future I wont have to pay at all when my daughter is qualified. Dont know what mens haircuts cost though, but I do my Hubbys and sons with the clippers. Marie

About £60 for a trim, blow dry and to have my crimson bits put in. I've been going to the same one for years and you get a kind of loyalty bonus. If I was a new customer I think it would cost around £75. Gwynne

I used to pay nearly a hundred pounds back in Colchester Essex by a popular hairdressers... Men about 10 quid ( for cut and blow dry ... WHY IS THAT !) how much do YOU pay locally ? and i dont mean Aunt Nellies 'round the corner lol !! xkx
