Paul, Hubby said that they could have been hit by torpedos but this would have been when they were on the surface. Debs x |

Hehe! I've asked some family, and it turns out that he wasn't on a submarine! I'm sure I was told a submarine when I was younger, but apparently the ship which was blown up was called 'The Hudd'. Anyone heard of it? |

Hi Paul, I think it could be HMS Hood, googled and couldnt find a Hudd but the Hood came up and that was hit and sunk by the Bismark, some good info on the net about it. Debs x |

Yeah it is the Hood, I just asked family again, I misheard them! lol. Now I need to find out the name of its sister ship which apparently rescued the survivors. My Grandad was on it apparently. |

I cant find him on the crew list, I must have made a mistake, it cant be electra. Knowing my family, the whole story is probably a complete fabrication, he probably worked as a pimp or something! |

Paul Hudd indeed! It's so easy for family history to be distorted. BTW I think you will find I mentioned the Hood way back in this thread... nell |

Paul, Google HMS Hood, I am sure there is at least a partial list of the crew who were on it when it sunk. My late father in law served on it, but didn't make the voyage when it sunk cos he was pished!!!!!!! maggie |
