I think its best to name your babes when you see them, I have a Darren Marcus Claire Fiona Thomas. Always liked the name Fiona, but not sure i would use the others again as they became so popular. Shirley Ann. |

With ours we waited until they were born and then names came to our minds which seemed to fit. I can't help thinking it's a pity that more people don't consider what a burden an inappropriate name can be to a child throughout its life. Pity poor nerdy, skinny and bespectacled Tarzan Sixpack Smith. |

Dont laugh. I wanted Meredith for my last child. But everone said it was awful. She ended up a Grace Meredith, everyone thinks it suits her now. Grace, is now 16, and the name is getting very popular. I believe it was in the top 10 last year. My great Grandmother was a Keziah, but always called Kizzy. My other Daughter Kirsty, is called Kizzy by all her friends. Vanessa my eldest is just plain Nessa now, but I still think it is a beautiful name. My Son Lloyd, hates his name. Jenny x |

Steph, sorry but you made me giggle with this thread :-) I remember planning names for my children, and using none of them!!!LOL My first would have been Paul if a boy....but i had a girl, i wanted to call my daughter Rhian, however having had trouble with my own unusual name growing up i played safe and used it as her middle name instead. My second would have been Amanda if a girl....but i had a boy When i had my third i wouldn't have used either of those two names on pain of death!!!! and when Mal and i told people what we would have called our daughter they looked at us like we had lost the plot!! Probably a good thing we had a boy, lol Naming imaginery children is fun, but i am sure you will both change your mind a million times before you do it for real. Yvette |

I don't think we've ever had a row, but then we've only been maried 38 1/2 years. When we had children we always said we would respect each other's decisions, even if we disagreed with them. The children could not then play one against the other. On the other hand, when they asked for something and I said 'Ask Mummy' they'd say 'She said ask you.' Grandchildren are different, Rachel, 8, when at our house, asked her mum if she could watch a video. Mum said 'Ask Grandma.' Rachel replied 'I know what she'll say, I'll ask grandad.' David |

If I remember correctly. without looking it up, Courteney was a rebel in Kent who was a traitor. There is a road named after him in Dunkirk, Kent. This was a lawless village in days gone by. Between Faversham and Canterbury. David |
