Hi Aileen, What's all this then? what's brought all this on? I suppose I better go to the naughty wall too then!!! (they have one of those at my daughters school) I'm right behind Gwynne & David Owen ;-))) David sorry I have to disagree with you, I don't think anything will bring back Enoch Powell lol. Pat x |

By being tolerant, we quietly practice our beliefs. By being Politically Correct we try to impose our beliefs on others. That's intolerant. Ergo, it sucks. |

John Jackman I think you'd need Jesus to bring back Enoch Powell given that he's dead. |

FAO Harry Hayes, Harry you are dead right! The officer you mention is only one of a vast army of anonymous 'SUITS' who make all the decisions affecting all of us and see their place in life as a proposer of unneccessary changes merely to justify their own overpaid position. I speak from experience having been a permanent civil servant for ten years. |

I think PC (or morality or whatever) should just evolve. I don,t like people being paid to diligently search for anything which will justify their jobs. As an example. how many muslims are offended by CHRISTmas?. Have their been any complaints or is the offence purely imaginary in some officers mind as to what could conceivably happen. Happy days. |

Thanks, Roxanne, I agree that some goes way too far. But I don't have a problem with people being treated equally and all beliefs being respected. I'm not in favour at all of any religion being forfeited. Gwynne |

I think there is a difference between tolerance and PC . We should be tolerant about other cultures, religions, sexual persuasions etc. But PC takes it too far which is what causes trouble. PC means we actually forfeit our own beliefs for those of others. Ann glos |

Hi Roxanne, I'm not at the extremes of PC but I do believe there is a lot of good unsung PCness about. Far more than bad stuff. Gwynne (trembling) |

lol Helen Gaynor's right - a lot of peoples' lives would much harder now if it wasn't for the movement that is now called political correctness. Like most things it's taken to the extremes but these are the exceptions. |

It started a long time before Mr Blair..... some time in the 1960's I think. I think the general idea is good but like most things it seems to have gone wayyyyy too far. You know what they say ......... 'the road to hell is paved with good intentions'...... |
