Paul I cannot talk for other veggies but I shall try & explain where I am coming from. I eat only vegetables and fish including seafood. I eat fish & seafood because I enjoy eating them very much I do not put those aquatic creatures in the same class as for example the main meat derived from Sheep, Cow or Pig Chicken or other fowl & rabbit. On a lesser scale people eat Goat, Deer, Kangaroo, Ostrich & more exotic Animals many people would not eat some of these animals, whether on principle or as a matter of taste or choice. I myself do not see any difference in eating red or white meat of any animal once you will eat one why not all? If you check the category fish and seafood are under it isn't animal. Fish & Seafood are categorised as Aquatic organisms. They are cold blooded creatures. Animals aren't so they are classed under mammals like ourselves. Vegetarians are the same as any other group there are differences we are not all the same we do not have the same reasons for not eating certain things just like everyone else whether they are Carnivores, Ominvores or Herbivores we all choose what we want to eat and what we don't want to eat. I call myself a veggie as it is easier than having to go through a whole list of food I don't eat. Pat x |

There is a real danger to children who are put on veggie diets. It is quite difficult to obtain a complete protein unless very carefully managed. Children who's diet does not include compete protein (normally obtained from meat or soya) may not fully develop all their mental faculties. Adults too may gradually become inadequately nourished and suffer from deficiency diseases. len |

Not knocking anyone who's a vegetarian at all, it's all personal choice... but I can never understand why someone who claims to be vegetarian can eat fish ? Paul ps - meat is murder ? not in my case it's already dead when I get to it lol |

You veggies won't kill animals, but you kill vegetables. Vegetables have feelings too. How does a fruit farmer make a barren tree fruit? He damages it by cutting the bark. It thinks 'I'm dying, I've got to have babies,' so it fruits. How does a vegetable gardener make a lettuce fruit? He slashes the heart and withholds water, It thinks 'I'm dying, I've got to have babies,' so it goes to seed. There are many other examples. Davo |

I think some things are improving. I was delighted when McDonald brought out the Quorn burger, but they dont do it anymore. The only veggie meal they do is that melt, but its minging! I think that all restaurants by law should make a veggie alternative. |

Just curious. Do veggies find that there's more choice for them when they eat out nowadays??? |

Hi Linda ;-) My three children eat meat but mainly only when their nanny cooks it for them, which is once or twice a week. They love eating veggie meals. I make loads of Pasta and Rice dishes that they thoroughly enjoy without meat. Lasagne with Puy Lentils and spinach is a favourite as is Spaghetti Bolognaise alternative puy lentils. They eat lots of salads because they ask me for them more than me forcing onto them. I would impose veggie & fish diet on them but judging by what they choose to eat they actually prefer a veggie diet. Pat x |

Like me Linda :-) I ate a little chicken when I was pregnant my Doctor insisted but otherwise I haven't touched meat since I was thirteen it was a teenager being grown up decision, funny though 2 of my four cousins are veggies from a young age and two of my Aunts were as well. Pat x |
