Wendy you know very well we are not talking about the vinegar anymore. I posted about the vinegar and it took you 18 mins to reply to that one message? You know full well you were talking about the 'lead behind the ear'. You comment of it being 'But,, Highly effective', comes straight after me saying it was sick, cruel and illegal. (3 Minutes to be exact, enough time to read the thread before it) Dont act out the injured party please.

I think you need to re-read the comments. It wasn't a 'cleaning' tip at all. You were being sarcastic when I said it was Sick and Cruel.

Paul Report 28 Nov 2005 00:26

When I said 'maybe we should try this on some people', you replied 'I don't think its the people spraying'. And thats not trying to be funny? I didn't say anything about being clevr though. And Wendy, its not a cleaning tip, he's talking about shooting a cat!

Paul

Paul Report 28 Nov 2005 00:23

You. I said that it was cruel, sick, and illegal, and with a comment like 'But highly effective', to me it sounds like you endorse such behaviour. Stop trying to be funny please.

Yeah, lets try it on some people and see how that one works out. Oh wait, I'm sure someone will moan about that!

Paul

Paul Report 28 Nov 2005 00:11

Yeah, its cruel, sick, and illegal.

Paul Report 27 Nov 2005 23:56

Bob, why plant a peice of lead behind their ear? Is that a joke for shooting them?

Paul

Paul Report 27 Nov 2005 23:52

A way of getting the smell out of carpets is to use something called ODOUR-GENE or something. Vets should sell it. Vinigar works but the cat will try and re-mark it (Sorry Kim and Aggie)

Just a word of warning about the magnetic cat flaps. They dont work unless they are the infared ones. The normal magnetic one will alow ANY cat to come in if it has a collar on, the collar will almost certainly have some metal on it, which will release the magnetic door. The infared ones are designed to only let YOUR cat in. Pat

to start off with, DO NOT buy a water pistol. Is your cat neutered? Is the intruder cat neutered? Magnetic cat flaps can work, but sometimes easily go off iuf there is anything metal near them! Including bells on collors. Is the intruder cat friendly? If not, try and find out if he belongs to anyone. If he is, put a collor on him, with a note attached. Its a good way of finding out if he's own. If you find he's not owned contact RSPCA or Cats Protection (CP Will not PTS unless its ill, RSPCA will) If its not neutered, and doesn't belong to anyone, they'll take it in. If it does belong to someone there is nothing they can do about it.

If you can get close enough, a small piece of lead planted behind the left ear works wonders........... Bob

Buy a water pistol and keep it handy,it dosent harm the cat but they don't like it,I have been told that cats cannot see water so it scares them because they dont know where it's coming from. One large Tabby soaking wet from the rain did a runner when it was squirted.anyway it keeps the toms away from our two she's and they don't come in the house even in the summer and stink the place out Bill

Wash down where the other cat has sprayed with NON BIO Soap Powder, completely clears the smell first time. Magnetic cat flap will be ok and they are only cheap from Argos. Sue

Magnetic cat flap for your poor cat. Make sure it is see-though. That way he knows once he is in he is safe. He might start weeing in bad places himself if he feels threatened. The only way to shift the smell is to wash it down thoroughly. Don't use anything amonia/bleach based because it will encourage the tom to mark on top. Hope you can get it sorted soon. We have had a porch door put on with an old catflap in. The local tom can't get into the main house, but has sprayed up the buggy in the porch a few times. Stinks doesn't it!. RW

Try using neat white vinegar (ok I am a devotee of Kim and Aggie) to wash down where he has sprayed, you might have to do it a few times, cats generally hate the smell but it will clear his smell, also get a water spray and everytime he gets into the house spray him with it, sounds harsh I know, but it generally tends to work, if he is spraying in your house then your other cat (neutered or not) will eventually start doing it also

the only thing i can think of is to lock the cat flap so he cant get in. if he has sprayed his scent then he will come back time & again as he s marked your house as his territory. Shirley

Wonder if anybody can give me advice on this. I have a cat, a boy who had been neutered, he is 1 yr old , there is this big tabby thats keeps coming into our house thru the catflap, spraying and eating my cats food, the cheeky thing!, he is not scared of me or my cat and have to shoo him out.. How can I stop him from coming in and terrifying my poor cat...Ang
