What I found interesting is that the couple got to only 150 miles from their destination before they were unable to continue because finally of the law. Listening to the police conversation it was apparent that even they failed to put a good reason why they were being stopped (only three times was it?) The reason why they were arrested was for 'disturbing the peace'. However, when they were stopped I could not see any evidence of any real disturbance!! However, there were the very small minority that made a fuss about it. I personally feel that we should all be free to wear as much or as little (or nothing) as we wish. I fail to see that any part of the body is so terrible that we are legally required to cover it up. As for the whole body being beautiful ... well that is a matter of opinion, and not be a real part of the debate. I would also like to comment about the point about children seeing nudity. Children do not normally have any problem with nudity themselves, it is only when adults are successful in corrupting children into thinking that nudity is wrong is only when children negatively react. Those adults are usually the ones that associate nudity with sexuality. This is something completely different . It is about time are archaic laws are changed. To use police time on these issues are clearly a complete waste of time and money and only about “being seen to do something”. I would have thought they really would have had something better to do. Eleanor, I think my smile would end up a broad grin if I saw them out rambling in the nude. I used to go rambling with a club and some of the places we walked, we ended up slipping on our backsides etc. I have come home covered in mud many a time and with grazes to prove it. Climbing up a mountainside on your hands and knees on shale, lol I would have never made it to the top for laughing if I had had someone in the nude ahead of me,lol. What a view though!! The mind boggles. If thats what they want to do, fair enough, I wont object but I think I would have a good laugh. June xx |

Nudity does not offend me, but I wouldent want to do it, and you also have to respect others principles, if people want to go naked fine, but there are places for them. |

Imagine a group of young people walking down road in the middle of a city to a club. A lot of the girls are wearing mini skirts. Nothing strange you may say .. a common sight. Then imagine that this scene is not in the year 2005 but in the Victorian era ... the girls are arrested and there is public outcry because the girls are actually showing their legs ... heaven forbid!!! The sight of 'legs' were considered so disgusting to the extent that even piano legs had to be covered up. Children were not allowed to see them as it would 'damage them'. Laughable now isn't it. That was all because of 'moral principles'. Our views have now changed and the sight of legs have been accepted by society....can anybody tell me why cannot the rest of our body cannot be accepted by society? Martin |

Martin, I have know problem with the human body, but dont you think its better dressed? I do, I really dont see the need to be naked, if your in a beautiful field in the middle of summer, or in a forest near a stream on a hot day then yes go for it!! I probably would too, but its against the law, end of story:-)) |

It's the dangly bits that offend some people Martin, that the privates should be kept private/concealed not public. Linda |

Both men and women have dangly bits. It is already acceptable in many places that women may sit on the beach with their dangly bits exposed. I occasionally frequent the nudy beach at Eastney. No-one worries about dangly bits there. |

When the weather is warm just think of the benefits. No washing clothes. Less use of Washing Machines. Less detergent being released into the environment. The Conservationists should make it compulsory amongst their membership. Lol. |

Its not so much the dangly bits which bother me, its the thought of those bare backsides and their germs! We have had a nude walker here in Cornwall, walking the very narrow Coastal Path. It is very isolated in places, and I think I would be somewhat alarmed to come, erm, face to face, with a naked man. There is a time and a place for everything. Olde Crone |

I can't see what all the fuss is about. Beeing naked in public doesn't hurt anyone, but is illegal. Smoking in public can kill others, but is still legal. Logic? Where? Rob |

I have used the beaches in Corralejo (Fuerterventura) and there are also miles of sand dunes on the other side of the road to the beach where you can walk nude without seeing a soul. It was a great experience to strip off altho' my o.h. was a bit surprised - he did strip when he was sitting on a towel but not when walking along. Found a nudist beach near where we stayed in Kefalonia and used that most of the time - it was lovely to feel free and wade and swim in the clear water. Most people were doing the same, and others who walked along that part of the coast just ignored us, even the kids. If we saw them coming, we tried to cover up a little, but I think it is ok for youngsters to see if they are with their parents and there is nothing threatening happening. Most people on those beaches are just interested in getting an all-over tan and enjoying the freedom, not being perverted about it. Have tried in England, but not often the weather for it. P.S. Not a pretty sight when I look in the mirror but I am not there for others' appreciation so just go ahead and enjoy. Do envy these slim young things tho, but their time will come .... |
