I've just found this thread, a little late I know, but..... all this thread seems to do is reinforce the fact that some people consider this to be their own personal club. It just isn't usually put into words as well as it is here! Do you really feel it necessary for people to introduce themselves before posting? Sue

I'll bet you added replies to other threads before you launched into your own though, didnt you.Dea? Yes, the Tunis cake perhaps is what made me wonder- nothing wrong in asking at all , and she got her answer, and she said thank you, no Problem. Just seems that people who may well have been 'hiding behind the curtain', pop up and post some unsual requets. Ok, So using Queenie as an example , other than wanting to know where to buy a tunis cake, why did she start to post when she did? I would have siad it had been a particualy 'tranquil' week on the general board jess

My first thread was 'Do you remember 'Watch with Mother', an odd title for a family history site maybe, but I was interested in finding out who remembered that far back I certainly would not have felt comfortable posting a thread saying 'Hi, I'm Dee, and I'm new here' Suppose we are all different Dee xx

Hi Anne, if you look me up, you will find I have been a member since July '03 but I considered myself a newbie when I started coming on the gen board in April this year. I did go on tips before then but not untill sometime in '04. I don't know if Jess was meaning anyone in particular but I have noticed a few names that I do not recognise & they just seem to either jump in to threads with opinions or comments or as Jess said start threads with odd questions. I know I'm showing my age but in real life one wouldn't jump into a conversation without introducing oneself & I do think it is a bit rude. Everyone is welcome but a hello would be nice. Vivienne

Are we talking about the lady wanting Tunis Cake ??? Haven't seen her name before on the boards, but she's certainly not new to the site, cos I checked this morning when I saw it - she has been a member since April 2003!!!

Hi Jess, Yes I've found myself wondering that too. I think maybe I would like people to introduce themselves before plunging in with out of the way questions. If I was in the street or on a bus & someone came up to me & asked an odd question I would think I'd got the nutter but lately a few people have just arrived on here & done just that. Am I right is that what you were getting at? Vivienne
