Oh sorry Len! I have just re-read my posting... I think I should re-phrase it. Why do you want to roll yourself over a barrel?

Len of the Chilterns

Len of the Chilterns Report 14 Jan 2006 00:11

Sally, I don't. The expression to be over a barrel means to be helpless, stymied, up a gum tree,in a cleft stick - the situation I was in when I last got depressed (which was ages ago). The mere visualisation of myself in such an indecorous position makes me laugh - so goodbye blues. len

Ah, thanks Len, I thought there must be more to it - I haven't heard that one. I really hope you are feeling happier now though Len, because you don't come across as being sad. That's the problem I've found, you don't really know what is behind the words. x

Sally, About 30 years ago I had a mental breakdown, mostly connected with working 12 or 13 hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week. I was a financial accountant. I made a complete recovery and am now what they call 'strong in the broken places'. You've heard about Yin & Yang? Well, you cannot fully appreciated happiness unless you have known misery. len

Len, agree with you 100%, don't appreciate life until you almost don't have a life. Been there and makes you really look at things different. Don't Sweat the Small Stuff, It's all Small Stuff. Debxx

If I could actually pin point something that would reliably make me laugh I'd probably solve half my problems... damn the fact I'm hard to please!

Is it a bird? is it a plane? Report 17 Jan 2006 22:52

Susan, Nah it's ok, can't talk about some of it as it involves a specific government department messing up (not to worry its not like its something important like health or education or taxes.. it's just a bit of history), the doctor's surgery saying they won't give me a repeat perscription so I now have to go in and answer 20 questions about how I'm coping living alone (it's not that difficult!), people disturbing me with questions so I keep having to stop working, had a bad night's sleep the other night with weird dreams during which I managed to turn off my alarm so I got to work very late and have hours to make up, my cake decorating class has been cancelled because theres not enough of us.. sorry I'm ranting a bit here!

Actually I did get a 5 min laugh at lunchtime when I read the part of my book where he starts comparing the male baboon's battle for dominance with the 'star wars' story :) The idea of Darth Vadar as a baboon is rather amusing :)
