Hi Pat, I agree with you totally, I read that article and it shows you how the borders are not controlled! Its ok the government saying 2 girls and a receptionist but its the pimps who are the ones behind it!! And im afraid to say its usually to feed a habit. There was a sad story about a young mother of 2 being stabbed to death in Peterborough (I moved from very near there to here) and she worked the streets to feed her crack habit. Debs x |

sorry to say it but there are people out there who have had hard lives and sex abuse .a member of my family had it as a child but she never turned to prostitution or drugs.it's easy money .all i can say is they should respect ther bodies and themselves and get a job which yeah might not produce as much money as selling your body but you will keep your dignity and your self respectxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)))): |

:-((( this is horrendous. Is anyone looking at which men pay for sex, and why, in this day and age? I also believe in health care and support etc for the women (and boys, remember) who end up doing the dangerous work, but I just wish there was less demand. An old friend of mine started 'working' last year, it's grim. xxx Jen |

Pat, I agree with you that all countries should take action against this evil exploitation, but I'm mainly concerned with what happens here. I don't agree with the EU, and I believe what happens in other countries should be decided by the citizens and governments of those countries, as it should be here. In reality, it appears the libertines have taken control, and I wonder how far they're going to go before they realise they've created total mayhem and a society based on nothing but the pursuit of personal pleasure and self-interest. Drinking at all hours, gambling all over the place, legalising drugs and prostitution? The road to Hell is paved with good intentions! BTW My husband has just gone to Holland on a business trip! Lemon That reminds me of the Madam, I can't actually remember her name but I think it was Julie Walters that portrayed her in the film. The only way to stop so many drugs coming into Europe is to again prevent the growing of poppies especially in Afghanistan which I believe was working but it's now returning to be the main crop :-( Hi Bob I also thought that living off immoral earnings was still an offence only I think they have changed the wordings as to take into account some women being held against their will and forced to work. Debs I cannot imagine how the Police can Police these small brothels, it's an impossible task but I am sure the police will be talking to the Government. Pat x |

That was the famous Cynthia Payne, Pat, played by Julie Walters (brilliant!) in Personal Services. At her parties *** was exchanged for Luncheon Vouchers......BC |

Lisa It could be beneficial for boys and girls to be taught that at school respect for their bodies and have a little more dignity. We could do with that in the community where there is so much of that lacking for others :-( Yes Jen I agree I wish there wasn't so much demand. Hi again CB Although Politically we would differ I totally agree with your statement :- a society based on nothing but the pursuit of personal pleasure and self-interest. It makes me wonder what will be the outcome of it all, we certainly are not setting any good examples for future generations. Pat x |

That's it BC the luncheon vouchers lol. Yes I agree good performance as always by Julie Walters and as Cynthia would say she was doing a public service. Well as far as I know she didn't kidnap, assault, imprison or over work the ladies who worked in her establishment. Thanks BC :-))) |

Hi Pat The only prostitutes i know, I meet at Police stations, and are mostly underage drug addicts, who do what they do to get there next fix, heartbreaking it is. One of the 'regulars' a girl of 15 once had chickenpox, she looked awful, but was still working, what sort of man, even if he didn't know her age, would pay for sex with someone who was covered from head to foot in spots? Unfortunatly when these girls are taken home, there parents are often not bothered about them. The girl with the chickenpox' Mum is a prostitiute herself, and the father there pimp, they have 6 children, some at different times are taken into foster care. What sort of start do these children have in life? If a woman wants to sell her body then it's up to her, as long as she makes that decision for herself, I have heard different stories today on the radio where, some women have said they love doing what they do, they are not drug addicts and come from decent backgrounds, one woman even said she did it with her husbands consent! I find that very odd, but if thats what she wants then it's her body. Some people who turn to prostitution, don't see they have a choice, they haven;t had a decent upbringing, it's easy for us with caring loving families to say how awful, but some folk, fortunatly never see the seedy side of life, they only see whats within there four walls. I suggest those who have no idea, take themselves out late one night and look around, or even in the day in bigger cities, don't close your eyes to it, really look at what is going on. I make an effort to see what's going on in life even when it's not pleasant, I can then sometimes do something about it. Something has to be done to protect innocent young girls and boys selling there bodies, for food, drugs, or to get money to get away from home. I don't know if what the goverment is doing will help, but at least it is bringing the plight to everyones attention. I have seen too many young people age years in just months, because of there being abused, so I hope this is a start of children left to be children. Lynda |

In the late 50s I attended night school in Manchester and the road there was a 'patch ' and the ladies often spoke to me offering business and although I was a little embarrased at fist I was never offended..............it was there life and what right has one man to tell another how to live his life.. I was never tempted and not drawn into there world....the area was a business area of wharehouses and factories closed after 5-30 I do know two cases.... a young man who had only a year or two to live did not wish to miss out on the experience and was taken by friends and family to Amsterdam. Arrangements were made with a young lady who said that he was a nice young lad and his first time should be with a girlfriend.. when told of the circumstances she understood and the lad died without missing out The second is a friend who married but immediatley after the birth of his son was denied any more bedtime play...... now 30 years later he says that he has normal desires . He is not well and feels that before he goes he may have to visit a lady but has been turned down by a proffessional lady as he is too old at 60. There are needs on both sides |

Hi Lynda Thanks for that I agree with every word,my heart goes out to the children & young people like that girl you have described it is shameful that she has been brought up in such a way as to see this way of life as the norm and there is no other way of life, I have no doubt far too many children are brought up the same way as her. Would the Authorities not be able to bring prosecutions against Parents for underage prostitutes? As you say its up to an adult to decide for themselves if they want to do such a thing with their bodies as long as they are not forced into it. But innocent children and young people should not be subjected to such a lifestyle. I wonder if the woman doing it with hubby's consent is providing the household income so that's why he doesn't mind, another way of saying living off immoral earnings :-( I get cross that it seems ok to talk about some things openly but Prostitution is still not openly spoken about & to some people Prostitutes are seen as a lower life form. It is important we discuss it & find ways of reducing it so future generations of boys and girls are not drawn or forced into it. It's a taboo subject for some but heads in the sand will not make things any better. I hope the British Government will talk with other EU Governments and the EU will be successful in finding a way to stop the trafficking of young women from Asia and Eastern Europe. I also hope that underage prostitution can be tackled by education and stiffer penalties to those who exploit the innocent. Pat x |

Colin thank you and yes there will always be people who do need the services of a prosititute. There are people in Society for one reason or another will turn to them in time of need. That's why I feel prositutes need to be in a safer and controlled environment and not be subjected to violence slavery as some are. OOps sorry Jenny can't keep up with all these new modern job descriptions. ;-) Pat x |

Agree with what most people have said. I would add that prostitutes aren't always female and that there are a lot of underage rentboys with similar problems. |
