Carl Bernstein the American journalist famed for Watergate was born in 1944 on this day The first successful kidney transplant was carried out on this day in 1963. Yes and the famous St Valentine's Day Massacre when members of Capone's gang killed seven members of Bugs Malone's gang. The killers were dressed as policemen! |

Hi Teri Yes I remember there was something on TV but I am sure back in the 70s there was a film. I can't remember if it was ever put on general release as the content was rather depraved! |

30th January....... Oh dear. Gandhi was assassinated on this day in 1948. He was shot several times at point blank range by a fanatical Hindu assassin who first gave Gandi the traditional religious greeting. As he was dying Gandhi turned to his murderer and gave him the Hindu sign of forgiveness. |
