I was born in Fairfield Hospital Bury Lancs, but my sister was born at home in Middleton Manchester, there was a little problem with her when she was born and the midwife had to call the doctor out just to cover herself if anything went wrong, he was very annoyed at the time as he was just on his way out to watch Manchester United play. think I was born in a maternity home, whatever that was. Older sibs in general hospital (I was always different). But Dave, you're forgetting other locations - on my ambulance driver uncle's last shift he delivered the last in a line of about 30 babies over the years! :-))) |

I was born at home - in Harrogate, but arrived before the midwife, so a neighbour who had 7 children helped. When the midwife arrived, she told my Mum off for not waiting for her! |

AW, C.B. You pinched my answer - I was Born in a Workhouse too - and I've got the autobiography I had to write at school when I was 12 with that as a title, to prove it! Workhouse in Billericay, Essex - then St Andrews Hospital, now posh houses, I understand! LOL! Sue (in NZ) |

Morning everyone.....I was born in the front bedroom of my home, at tea time....the midwife was more interested in putting her hat on straight, than the cord that was around my neck!!!!!! same midwife looked after me and my new born daughter, some 19 years later, she said I hadn't changed much??????lol.......Lilly |

Told you before, Dave - I was born in the Workhouse! LOL Well, it used to be the local Workhouse, but it had been up and running as a hospital by the time I came along, not long after the NHS was launched. ( I used to have a Medical Card with just a 3-digit serial number on it .) CB >|< X |
