Afternoon all, wish all winters days were like this one - not bad at all! Suzy Q . . . I think you are spot on !! So much is happening with my family history at the moment - and it all seems to be along the same line - and most of it completely unexpected results. I have never been able to find my grandma's birth (1886), or her parents marriage, or her mothers birth! Last resort, last Monday I did a search using just her christian name & mothers christian name - a match came up right year, right NSW country town, but completely unrelated surname. What the heck, I ordered it - it arrived today and its them !!! Clear sailing now . . . have found them all so 4 more certs ordered today - there goes my dividend cheque ! Now all I need it to know why they changed there surname ??? They didn't leave the district, so it wasn't for a fresh start. Mind boggles !!! Shaz I dont know the answer to your question about the NSW bdm's - I will try and find out for you - but I dont think you can get to actually see the index after 1905 for yourself, I think you may have to prove your a rellie, and pay them to search! Will get back to you. Got some ironing to do so will look in again later cheers luv Laurie

Hi Carol Arvo is afternoon. The australian language is great. We shorten every thing we possible can. And if we can put an O on the end that's even better. SuzyQ ( original Yorkshire lass)

Louisa Yes it is hard to moniter because you are not told how much you are using with sites like GR for example. You can keep a check of your usage but that isn't very scientific. When I signed up with bigpond, I got the 500MB because we are in one of those telstra counrty areas and the government arranged with telstra to give us the extra. I am now wondering if we are getting it or not. I have used in 13 days what I used to use in a month. I will need to do some detective work i think, or maybe write to one of the current affairs programs and let them do it LOL SuzyQ

Yvonne , your yellow and fluffy got me thinking of Harry Hayes thread…..'Anyone fancy a well off old off codger' lol Can you tell me what avro means as see it often and can’t work out what it is??? Glad everyone is feeling better but watch out for those backs...I tend to get a very bad one in the mornings but it wears off in about half an hour, still don't know what it is. CarolB

hi SUZYQ, that is weird then isn't it, though I am not surprised I don't think I have heard too many positives re BP its hard to moniter too isn't it, Louisa

Hi Louisa, I never leave my computer switched on and only turn on the modem if I am on the internet. We are very conscious of the electricity bill and always turn all our appliances off when not in use. I did expect to use more with broadband, but didn't expect to use more than double. SuzyQ

UrbanGirl

UrbanGirl Report 29 Jun 2006 05:44

hi SuzyQ, if you have broadband and leave your computer on even when not connected your computer can make a connection. This can happen with auto upgrades, pop-ups etc or just cookies that are attached from you browsing sites. the only way to stop it is to turn off the computer completely each time you use it or try unplugging the cable to your broadband modem when not in use. Shazz has been chatting with me over a possible family connection and invited me to have a chat with you guys, as you can probably tell I have no problems with talking Louisa:)

Good afternoon Wattlers, First to those who I promised a copy of the wattlers list, my scanner has decideed to go on stike, it is an all-in-one and the rest of it works so I am not sure what has happened. I am going to connect my old scanner, so will send it to you then. I would send it direct from the database, but I am not sure if my program will work for any one else. I have Star office. Second, some one mentioned that they thought they were using too many MB with Bigpond. Please let me know how you go because I also think that I am being diddled. When i had dial up I never used more than 200MB, even when I spent days on Ancestry etc. Since I got Broadband and now have 500MB I can use it all up before the month is out and I am not doing much research. It seems a bit strange, especially now that I know some one else has the same problem. Glad you had a nice day yesterday Pam, Lara and Rebs. Look forward to seeing you on the 13th. Trifley, did I make a mistake asking Donna if the 13th suited her? I thought we had wanted that day because it is a sort of Wattle anniversary. I don't understand why Lew's New house needed a 9 hour clean up, please explain. A house only needs a good clean up once a year, a Spring Clean LOL And are you expecting your visitors to go into your bedroom. What kind of a dinner party are you having LOL Did you see whre Schappel Corby and the Bali 9 might be spending their sentances in Australia. Well that's some good news. It will be Schappelles birthday this next week, it's around the 8th. I do feel for that poor girl, I have always thought that she was innocent. Hi Louisa, are you another one of Shaz's friends? You will fit in here then. Sue, please take care of your back. Don't end up like me with sciatica. Laurie, you are having a lot of luck with your family. I think you may be from a very important gene pool, because some one some where wants you to find some thing out. You must have lots of spirits out there helping you along. And I don't mean gin, whisky or vodka LOL Well, I had better try to fix this scanner up Love to everyone SuzyQ

Afternnoon Wattlers Well everything has been done, shopping, walking, even visited parents while on my walk, Paid bills, had lunch and shower, all ready to go back down to the shops when DD gets home as they are having a 5hr end of fin. year sale in the local shopping centre, you never know might be able to pick up a bit of a bargain. Welcome to the nuthouse Louisa, not sure where your from, Im from way down south on the lovely island state, as my name hints at. Shazz sorry I cant help with your query on emails still going into Outlook Express to alert you to Gr messages. I use Internet Explorer browser to go to my email, we still receive them through that. We did try to set up Outlook Express so you can have more than one email addy going into it, as David gets his mail through it, but we couldnt seem to get it to work properly, so we gave up, not worth the hassle lol. Pam, yes the back does seem 100% toady, which it always does, it is only something minor, I think, as it plays up in the afternoons/evenings and after I've been to bed, I can get up in the morning and have no signs of it playing up. My mum has some form of degenerative disc problem and she swims about 3 times a week for that, so yes I know swimming can be benificial and we do have an indoor swimming center just 5 mins away. Ok off to check my emails, hopefully I might have some pics from the get together that, by the sounds of it Rebs has. Cheers Sue

Arvo to all things yellow and fluffy, I packed me pj's :) Got to go and pay bills etc, I'll definitely be trying the card out Jood :) Vonny Ps Ducky, I just pressed the wrong button too but this time the back button worked:) Who was having the download problems?? Just some things to watch - do you have a radio link?? or do you leave computer on when you are away?? If you have a radio link (like to a laptop) and you haven't limited the area then sometimes peeps several houses away can use your link. If you leave your computer on then it can download updates all by itself! to say nothing of other computers using it if your firewalls are broken into. OK that's about exhausted my words of wisdom. off to shop :) ~~~~~~~~~~~Vonny PPS Shazz, I'm still getting 'you have a message' to my email account. Sorry, don't know the answer to your other Q. But we had to go through the solicitor to get John's mums birth details.

Hi all Had a wonderful day yesterday. Nearly didn't recognise Rebs as she was 'dressed'. Terry would have been most disappointed. Didn't meet Sandra, but we had so much fun, lots of talk and lots of laughs. Will have to do it again when Lara is on her way back home. Hi Faye, I used to be normal, till I arrived here on this thread - lol. Mary, wonderful news about the house. Glad that creeply little man didn't get it. Tassie, how is your back today. If you can find a heated pool, go and soak for a couple of hours. Does wonders for my back. I go to hydrotherapy Mondays and Thursdays conducted by my physio and I look forward to these sessions especially when my back is bad. Then again I am sure Nefer could do lots for you. GC meet is fine with me, hopefully Rebs will come with me. Hi ya cat person. Lew Lew is not in shock, the poor house is lol. Lew, have a wonderful lunch though I don't expect you to read this for a day or two, thats probably how long the lunch will last. Have a good one tomorra. Trifley, if the cat person becomes our resident psychologist, do you think a certain other dr (other than your good self) might be a tad put out and spit the dummy? Enjoyed the jokes Yvette and Vonny. Jood, how ya going? Just let that b***d loose with us and he'd know what pain was - bl****y coward that he is. Death is too good for him, let him suffer !!! Stuff the h*****k. Don't over do it. Vonny - packed yet ?????? If Tony and Barb had our little wattle mascot, they could hold him up at Wimbledon. Jude 2, nearly at the end of the financial year, maybe things will quieten down then. Shaz, surely family history is keeping your brain active. Must get ready for hydro, will pop back later. My punctuation and grammar and spelling leave a lot to be desired, but better than it taking all day to write have a lovely rest of day from yvettte
