Hi Laurie I am remiss in that I didn't acknowledge that our council does give a rebate - the tank has to be a certain size and plumbed to a toilet to qualify - and the rebate just covers the cost of their siting approval! :>) Anna |

Trifley broke the rules . . . . No negatives on the Wattlers pages !!!!!! You will get that trip to Egypt sweet lady . . . (but bugger !!! no bookings this week) Agree with you re the three artists impressions Tony, the other womans would have been my choice too! Re the shower glass ladies . . . put an oats bathroom glove in the shower and wipe it off every day, if your really lucky (and you give instruction really often) the OH will use it occasionally too !!! For the really hard work jobs - use Sugar soap!! Eucalyptus oil is another good skunge breaker upper !!!!! (been told tea tree does a good job too but never tried it) Gee Anna thats a bit steep . . . the Beaudesert council gives a rebate in our area (SuzyQ I think that is only in areas where there is a mains pressure water supply) to anyone who puts on a rain water tank! It used to be illegal, but we put one on anyway and pretended it wasn't there. We have to get a new one when we go back up home as we found some holes last trip. (Sounds like we should order it now so we have it when we go up in Sept) Bad news about the vote! Our 30 year old today son, Paul, has just rung us up to tell us of his lovely day at a Day Spa on the coast and his swim with the dopohins . . . I think I like this new girlfirend, she has spoilt him rotten! (he deserves it) He will use his gift from Glen & his mummy & daddy on Wednesday - a V8 day!! coffee time luv Laurie |

As predicted, the NO vote won in Toowoomba's vote on whether to supplement our dam water with recycled water. It will be interesting to see which path we go now. Extra bores around the city will help in the immediate future but unless we get rain, the underground water supply will not support unlimited bores. I'm hoping the council will make it easier for established homes like ours to put in rainwater tanks. It is a council regulation that all new homes have a rainwater tank. However, it can only be plumbed to a toilet - not to the kitchen - and can also be used for outdoor purposes. Strangely enough, until recently, it was illegal here to have a rain water tank! We have tried to get quotes for installing tanks but all the tank manufacturers, plumbers, earth movers etc are not even interested in quoting - they are flat out with new homes. And we have to get council approval for the siting of any tank we put in which costs about $400 just for the council aapproval. Now that the recycling has been rejected, they may get their act together to make it easier for people to get rain water tanks. To put in an inground tank with a large capacity which is the way we want to go, we are looking at about $8000. This includes council fees, concrete tank, earthworks, plumbing, changes to downpipes on our gutters, a pump to pump the water. And we still can't use it in the kitchen. And it would have to go in our front garden as that is the only practical place to put it! My rant for the night. Sleep tight everyone XX Anna |

Nup..not this time. Never mind Anna,i didnt buy the right ticket either..last time. Gwenda. Yes mate, i did watch that program with Rolf Harris. I liked the other ladies Painting. The bloke ( with the long hair ) painting was also good, but a bit to much like a Photo, i thought. The one that Park'o picked.........well........Ummm...each to his own, i guess!!! ...Very different........but not really my choice. Sandra. Yes, i had the Pie & mash, and Barb had Pie & mash also, as we occasionally have that at home. Meat Pie, Mashed tatties, and Peas, but think i will pass on the eel......lol As a 6 year old i remember my dad would take me down to the river ( Yarra ) in Richmond, and catch eel's. He used to take them home and put them in a long steel pipe and cook them on an open fire.( smoked eel ). Other things i remember, with my dad and his mates back in the early 50s, were how we used to go Roo shooting ( illegal now ) and he would cut the tail off skippy...and my job was to peel off the skin, and my dad made Kangaroo tail soup, at the camp. They were great days. Tony Oz..:>))) |

Tony - the pie and eel floater must be where the famous (????) Adelaide Pie Floater comes from minus the eels - yukkkkkk Always thought the meat pie with mushy green peas was bad enough but eel - ugggghhh doesn't bear thinking about. On the subject of painting I know you're not into portraits but did you watch the Rolf Harris show on ABC Tuesday night when 3 artists painted Parky - very interesting - each doing different styles - didn't like Parky's choice but he has to live with it not me - lol |

my mum was a legend (hope she reads this as she hasn't spoken to me for 3 years) the old man used to go and catch eels, mum used to poach them we'de eat them, the cats would eat it and I'm sure the dog too. we were really economical in the way we lived. big vege garden recycle (sew) good clothes into new ones. unravel good jumpers and wash out the wool and reknit it. all kinds of stuff that i just took for granted that everybody did. Not.. I've tried to teach the kids a lot of things, i'm greatful that I know how to be self sufficient, makes it easier to be poor, for sure . Spend the excess on good shoes and broadband love Yvette |

Good Evening Wattlers, Laurie would just like to add my best wishes to everyone elses re your friend and family, I am sure it was the only decision in the end. Tony: On the subject of the 'Pie Restuarant' in London lol. As true Londoners will tell you there is nothing like Pie and Mash. Pie /mash some have boiled eels and the 'Gravy' is called liqure made with parsley. When we were there last time my husband loves them ,the eels were 14 dollars just for 5 eels, personally I don't like them but the rest YUm . Often had them in school holidays for lunch for a shilling in those days. They are very popular and can see people lining up on a Sat lunchtime before a lot of men went to the football, although if not a londoner it's not as well known. SusyQ we tried to cancel our contract with TElstra but they said we would have to pay out the whole contract, roll on Jan when we will change over. Hi to everyone else and have a great evening. Cheers Sandra in the Gong. |

Evening all, Laurie - can I add to those thinking of you at this time - such a hard decision to have to make but the only one really - Den will live on in the recipients of her donation. Vonny - there is a new cleaner out on the shelves at Coles only - its Australian made - all natural ingredients - called Cinderella - I've tried the general cleaner on my shower and it worked well - you can also use it on the glass but there is also a glass cleaner that is recommended - they cost $4.99 for 500ml. I also used Clorox which was good but couldn't find that in either supermarket last time - always happens - I find a good cleaner and it disappears from the shelves. The squeegee sponge thing is only good when everyone uses it - lol Lara - would I say nasty things about those pesky maggies - lol Might be saying the same about those eagles from the west - haven't heard the final score yet. Trifley - lovely to see you - glad you're enjoying watching Graeme do the chores - lol Hi to everyone else - forgotten what everyone was up to and daughter wanting tea early cos she's going out - wouldn't get things started tho - so I'd better go. Shall return later - richer hopefully Gwenda |

Oh, Laurie, what a tough time for you, but I think we all know the right decision has been made. I hope that lots of unwell people benefit from your friend. Sit and have a good cry, 'cause I feel like doing that. I know I've never met Denny, but somehow feel I know her just the same. What a beautiful person she is and I just hope that her beauty lives on in others. Thinking of you, Laurie and, of course, Ray, Bill and Nancy and Den's sisters. Hugs and kisses to you all. hiya guys, i've had a few looks today, enquired re the cost of bananas in NZ. Bananas = inflation Peter ? done a pile of washing. Went and returned a couple of items to the shops that 1 stopped working (mp3 player) 2 didn't have all the bits (computer speakers) had a big sleep this arvo after having a really cr***y one last night . ended up looking at the computer. and i'm not eating chocolate any more. each time I have lately I've ended up with a headache. i've used all kinds of stuff for the shower. now I want to say orange spray, put it on, come back later scour and rinse. not stinky, environmentally friendly . so I buy it and use that on Saturdays but, I hide 2 bottles of Homebrand or Aldi domestic cleaner (cheap domestos) in the kitchen cupboard. when I decide everybody else has been too slack on the 'help with h*******k' i use that. eldest boy's ex got me onto it. squirt it from the top all the way round methodically , furthest away first , gradually closing the door as you go. don't get it on you, don't smell it. quick rub over with the scourer. close door completely. Stand on a chair to lean over the shower screen and use the shower to blast it off about an hour later. . I need sustainance and coffee now, will return shortly love Yvette xx |
