hi guys Itsy... the trek is 9 days in teh sahara, covering 100km over terrain of varying difficulty - dunes etc. its to raise money for Cancer research UK. There are 15 of us doing it. We have a target of £3500 each to raise. PInk Diana setup the Pink Fund (an official CRUK fundraising committee) last year after being inspired by a member of this site (Gaynor Fear) who was battling cancer. Diana did a great wall of china trek and raised LOADS of money (£10-15k I think). She then suggested a group of us do the Sahara trek - and we jumped at the chance. We leave on the 11th and come back on the 20th. The members of the site have been tremendously supportive and very generous :o) Paul

And as I said on other threads, it is not a fundraising thread...... but donations will always help such a good cause!!! btw did you notice the phantom at work? :-)

Unknown Report 25 Feb 2006 00:49

Thank you for explaining that Paul. Two Questions: 1. Who do I make a donation to or sponsor? 2. What's a phantom nudge?

Unknown

Unknown Report 25 Feb 2006 00:57

Itsy... there are 15 of us doing the trek, any of us would grateful accept any sponsorship - sond one of us a PM and we'll reposnd with how you can donate - either online or with a cheque. Phantom nudging... normally you can 'nudge' a thread up to the top of the page just by adding a reply - commonly people just add the word 'nudge'. Phantom nudging is when you do this but then delete the 'nudge' so you can't see who has brought it up to the top. Pau

Paul - I'm thick, but's what's a PM? Also I have done phantom nudging when a thread has asked for nudges to be removed and I have wanted to list it My Threads. I din't know I would be offending the rules!

Erikoinen Report 25 Feb 2006 01:09

Itsy a PM is personal message and phantom nudging is not against the rules but impolite Ken xx

Unknown Report 25 Feb 2006 01:12

I know there are varying opinions on nudges. I think if there is page after page of nudges, then its sensibe to clear the older ones out. The concern is raised when someone brings a thread up, often for mischeivous reasons. A PM is a private message. click on someones name and you can send them a message directy to their message box

Thanks for help Dutch, but how do I send a personal message? Paul How do I know the money will get to the right place? If nothing else, I'm keeping you on your toes tonight.

Erikoinen

Erikoinen Report 25 Feb 2006 01:13

to send a PM click on the person's name Ken xx

Unknown

Unknown Report 25 Feb 2006 01:15

ahhh right, well if you were to click on my name for instance... I would give you an address where you could send a cheque, which would be made payable to CANCER RESEARCH UK, so there's no chance of anything fraudulent there we're also got donation pages setup on www.bmycharity*com which is a set that allows credit card donations. It's all completey above board, I'm sure if you looked at that site you'd see that its 'official'

Paul, thanks and you Dutch. Now I read that you are all trying to reach 3500, is that right, if so who hasn't achieved that target yet? Also, if sent to the site you named, would it be credited to any of you people's totals, if you understand what I'm getting at. As I have only learnt about this sponsorship on this board, I would really like one of you to achieve their target.

Unknown

Unknown Report 25 Feb 2006 01:26

Well I've hit my target but I'm still adding to it. I think a few are a little short though... if you look at the thread entitled something along the lines of 'GR trek - 2 weeks to go' look for Sheila, or Yvette.... if you sent either a message I'm sure they'd send you their collection page address (and be very grateful lol) they're all of a similar format to ... www.bmycharity*com/pinksaharasmiff (thats mine, the others are all pinksahara'something' it does all go to the same place in the end, but as you say, would be nice for us al to hit out targets
