ive got five shillings but no date i think it is one of those commenoration coins not sure which one. it has elizabeth II on horse on outer rim it says i will bear unto you faith and truth derek

pre 1947 'silver' was high silver content, after 47 was cupro nickel, next to nothing in scrap value. Derek the current day 10p coin is physicaly similar to a Shilling coin, which was 12 d....1/- so, no you didnt need very big hands.........LOL the halfcrown was 30d ...2/6 8 halfcrowns to the £1...20/-....or 240d

i was in care when younger and did`nt get pocket money,,sob born 67 so just missed the change over i think,,i`m sure some one will enlighten me. and there was me looking for the rainbow thinking i had found a treasure chest,,,,ha at least it got me out of fixing the fence till tomorrow,,,he he he derek :p

When I was a preteen in Central London I could go to a News Cinema for 12 pennies. That is the equivalent to 5p in today's monopoly money. An hour of cartoons and a couple of newsreels. If the weather was bad you could stay there and watch it all again.

derek got a load we found in FiL house. don't think they are worth much have some with victoria, george v on. in a tin found 4 american dollars that are dated 1964 with jfk on back not sure on them

LOL thats wishful thinking. My mum has a stamp collection from all over the world from about 1943-45. I have tried several ways to find out if any of them are valued. I have digitally photo'd them and put them on yahoo but all you get is a load of offers for swapping 100 used stamps etc. Which is fine if I were collecting but I was just curious.
