Also remember the 'knocker up man' would come around and tap on the bedroom window, shouting 6 o clock and all's well....in other words, get up you lazy b*ggers lol. The gas lamps, man would come along and light them up. Anyone remember the lorries that used to come round every Saturday selling all kinds of drinks....lemonade, limeade, raspberry ade, t*zer, orangeade, ginger beer etc, etc. Fanlights, over the window and chunky glass (usually green) blocks, which were used as foot raisers for furniture, like dressers. So you had the pop man in Yorkshire too Janet..........he certainly got around lol...... Saturday, was the highlight of the week waiting for him, jumping up and down, asking mum and dad how many bottles we could get, usually ended up with six at a time, but had to make them last all week...............fantastic!!! Never see anything like that now. Lin |

Sure do Gwyneth, If you took them back the following week, you got a refund, remember lol............The lorry had sloping sides,, so all the bottles could be well seen on display, and you went mad screaming which ones you wanted. Lin |

Gwen, We had great picnics with our Primus, kept in a deep, metal biscuit tin. We even took it out with us before we had a car. It sometimes meant coaxing my sister to walk for a while so that we could put the Primus in the pushchair....... and that's what that looked like too, ie. a chair with wheels. Gwyn |
