I never used to drink red wine as it gave me a headache! As I got older though, now I can, no bad effects at all. I do steer clear of really cheap ones, although there are a couple of £3.99 ones I know are fine with me. I usually buy the offers like the 1/2 price ones you mention! :0) Joan

The only time I would buy a cheap red is to make mulled wine. Other than that it gives me a huge headache and dodgy tummy. Not worth the couple of pounds I save.

I agree Stelly If you buy a cheap bottle of plonk (something I don't do that often, but I occasionally get taken in) it can give you a awful hangover. But if I pay £8-£9 for a good quality, I am fine next morning. Just goes to show you. catherine

Catherine Rioja is nice but it doesn't have the bite of a Shiraz if you know what I mean? It's a bit too smooth for me. I like to 'chew'on a wine. Let me know what you think though. Joan It's lovely. I am sending hubby out for a job lot tomorrow. Hope it's still on offer though !!!!!!!!!!!

Merlot is very nice. I would say it's my next favourite wine to Shiraz. But there must ne something more. I am going to a spanish place tomorrow and will drink riojca (don't know if spelt right soz) but I like spanish good quality too. x

'Always kept away from French but there must be good French wine' - good heavens, wine is the only thing the French are famous for doing well! I myself like full-bodied fruity reds, Merlot is a fab grape. Nuits Saint Georges is an expensive but good red, though nowadays there's good wine to be had from many countries. I like sauvignon blanc white wines. But nowadays most supermarkets have a great range and lots of info about the taste, so you are unlikely to buy something you don't like. nell

Oh no. I will never drink wine box again. I don't know if it just me, but that stuff makes me sick. Even if it's wine that I have drank from a bottle previously once it's in a box..............well it doesn't bear thinking about. I wonder if it's just me ? I think they put something else in those things.
