Catherine Rioja is nice but it doesn't have the bite of a Shiraz if you know what I mean? It's a bit too smooth for me. I like to 'chew'on a wine. Let me know what you think though. Joan It's lovely. I am sending hubby out for a job lot tomorrow. Hope it's still on offer though !!!!!!!!!!! |

I agree Stelly If you buy a cheap bottle of plonk (something I don't do that often, but I occasionally get taken in) it can give you a awful hangover. But if I pay £8-£9 for a good quality, I am fine next morning. Just goes to show you. catherine |

The only time I would buy a cheap red is to make mulled wine. Other than that it gives me a huge headache and dodgy tummy. Not worth the couple of pounds I save. |

I never used to drink red wine as it gave me a headache! As I got older though, now I can, no bad effects at all. I do steer clear of really cheap ones, although there are a couple of £3.99 ones I know are fine with me. I usually buy the offers like the 1/2 price ones you mention! :0) Joan |

I know its going off the subject slightly but with the light beers, Michelob Ultra is a good one. No carbs and not too strong in taste if you're a bit of a wuss like me. lol |

I tend to get whatever tesco*com has on half price offer. But they do have some very good wines on there - so check them out. |

I very much agree with you stelly. I f you buy a good quality priced wine it does not give you a headache. My absolute favourite is Rosemount Shiraz around £8 a bottle. catherine x |

I never buy French wines (or anything) because of their bloody-minded attitude to importing our goods. Australian and Chilean are very good and an excellent, full-bodied red is Merlot although I happily quaff Shiraz and Cabernet -Sauvignon. My preference is Australian Lindeman's. len |

Oh Fred,I am with you on the blush wine. It burns your stomach out !!!!! Zinfandel (excuse spelling) is lovely. That's another one I have when it's on special offer. xx My youngest daughter was conceived though after a quantity of said Blush wine so there is something to be said for it I suppose :0) |

Maybe I just remember it fondly because of the outcome !!!! The blush def burnt out my stomach but I do recall a half decent Zinfandel that was proper red xx |
