Memory is poor as I was born in the 60's but......were these sixties or seventies? Oh I loved fuzzy felts! Chopper bikes Watch out the Humphries are about (Milk commercials) Space Hoppers Clackers (real hard balls that knocked together - did your nuckles in if you wern't careful) West Ham doing well at football? or is that just my imagination? I wish the off-licences would charge a deposit for bottles again. That way people would not be smashing them in the streets so often. Although I know they must have been out of pocket cos people used to go round the back of the pub and pinch them to re-claim the deposit. There is always broken glass near us and it is annoying when I ride a bike everyday. There are enough people round here wandering the streets looking for fag butts that if they saw an empty bottle they would return it so that it wouldnt be smashed to bits.

I was always dosed up with codliver oil and malt, cos the school doc told my mum I needed it - I was wiry. I was a real olive oyl when I was younger , wish I was now, I am more like Bessie Bunter! Does anyone remember those table mats that came with Daz or something, they were sort of rectangular with rounded corners and brown, shiny with a vase of flowers on I think. Amazing how many of my old people I have looked after over the years, have had the same ones my mum and I collected. Still have mine somewhere I think.

Great stuff :-))) How many had a tigers tail from the petrol station? Was it Esso?? Fred, wonder if you delivered to my house in Wycombe? And did anyone else have their lemonade delivered - the stuff in glass bottles - Whites I think.

Who remembers 'Spring' National health fizzy orange drink in a powder form? It was lovely and I've never tasted anything as good since. (Tango is the nearest but still miles off) Do you remember giving your cats and dogs 'Fido'? It was gross and you bought it in a pound slab but the cat and dog didn't seem to mind. I don't know if you could buy tinned dog and cat food then. I think we may have been to poor to afford such luxuries for our pets.

Fuzzy Felt Plastic tea caddies that fixed on the wall - free with PG I think, for loose leaf tea. Free glasses from the petrol station. Ski youghurts with tops that wouldn't come off. Fizzy Corona in a range of bright colours - probably full of E numbers!

My favourite activity was having a go at a magic painting book. You just used water and the colour appeared. I do remember cod liver oil and malt. There would be the three of us lined up for our spoonful of goodness. (Me, the dog and the cat.) We all had the most marvellous shiny coats and wet noses :-))))

Lucy the comic with the cut out doll was the Bunty.

what about syrup of figs, milk of magnesia, and virol yuk !!! nice things were sherbert fountains, palm toffee, and the penny tray that took us ages to choose what to buy for a penny, Bunty and Judy magazines, and muffin the mule, Andy Pandy, and the wooden tops.

I can remeber getting a comic (can't remeber its name tho!!) and it had a cut out doll and cut out clothes on the back page! Lucy x

Was it in the 60s that we collected stamps off the tea packets? I remember little orange stamps in the middle of a green quarter pound packet of Brooke Bond. We saved them but I've no recall of any rewards of gifts, - probably we didn't save enough as Mum switched to ' 99 'at the Co-op so that it would help with the divi.

my boss told a customer other day that minadex is the best tonic, it has a lot in it, and he highly recommends it, i remember the taste, as a kid, an dhow it made me feel hungry, also remember mum buying glucose powder for tea and coffee, cos of a sugar shortage

Yuk l remember the Cod Liver Oil it was disgusting but the Malt was lovely, l bought some malt for my kids but it did'nt taste the same, they hated it lol

Yes I remember them. My mum saved them. There were Roses too. I had a few myself. My mother kept hers in a vase in the dining room. I threw them out when she died in 1983. Deanna X

Couldn't wait to finish the cornflakes so we could cut out the mask which was printed on the back of the box - after you'd cut it out, you had to fix an elastic band through holes in the sides for it to go around the back of your head. My favourite one was the tiger mask.

Plastic doilleys (sp?) I remember in 1960 I was in the Country Dance team at my junior school. We had to make 'hats' out of plastic doillies and plastic flowers and tie them on with ribbon with a bow under our chins. Very fetching! If I feel brave enough later, I may post the photo on the photo page if I can find it! LOL We also made the skirts in our needlework lessons. Another old English custom that we don't see now - at least not in my grandaughters schools - and they say thank goodness for that! Ooh Gillian I love Minadex :o) I bought some for my eldest grandaughter a couple of years ago as a tonic after she was ill - but I think I had most of it! Think I'll go and buy a bottle today. LOL Sue xx

I remember emptying out my mums domestos bottle, if you took it back to the shop they'd give you 2d and i'd have 4 fruit salad and 4 blackjacks lol Anne

Remember them,i used to deliver them on my round in High Wycombe ,hated 'em cause i always got stick from the good ladies when they couldn't have the colour they wanted grrrrr.Fred.
