Can't remember the Emulsion Margaret. I was told that when I was a baby my Uncle was giving me Virol,he turned to speak to someone and the Virol went all over my face and hair. Mam was not amused lol Mau :O)

Didn't have the ducks (thank goodness) but my mum did have some 3D faces on the wall (think they were fishermen). My grandmother had 3D plates with cottages on them - though I don't know what era they were from. The wallpaper we had was bright orange, rather large flowers of some kind. And my dad put up wooden panelling on one side of the room where the staircase and understairs cupboard was.

Humpty on Play School was like a gonk - a LARGE gonk! LOL - and they were very definitely around in the sixties - most of us made our own if we couldn't afford to buy one. They were totally different to trolls. Trolls have proper faces,legs and arms (albeit moulded to their sides). Think of a gonk as being all face. Mags xx

Oh yes, remember all this, lovely to reminiss! I used to love both virol and malt, was not very keen on Minidex. Not a particularly pleasant subject but anyone remember the horrible treatment for worms when kids? I can remember being dosed with raw carrot, salt water and a horrible chocolate looking circular cake/tablet that tasted foul. I also collected the Tea picture cards, match box labels (wish I still had them they sell for quite a bit now), film star pictures/photos, some from film magazines and some we used to send away begging letters for. I remember the Corona man calling when i was first married, the baker, the milkman (we bought tokens for both bread and milk). and the laundry van where i would send my sheets and hubby's stiff detachable Naval collars and white collarless shirts to be washed and starched and ironed. Then my groceries would be delivered by the co-op, the Betterwear man would call with his case. Ann Glos

can anyone tell me the difference between a troll and a Gonk? Were Trolls not the hard plastic version of a Gonk? that sounds like a foreign language!! (still got two , but thought they were called Gonks!) I remember when taking medicine.It tasted so awful Mam used to give it to us on a teaspoon with jam and sugar. We used to buy Horlicks tablets, Spanish liquorice root and cinnamon sticks (when sweets were rationed) lol and yes i am nearly 100 years old!! LOL Mau x :O)))))))

Gonks - you HAD to have a gonk! Hair lacquer that came in a squirty bottle and having only three shampoos to choose from - dry, greasy or normal hair. The 'marvel' of instant gravy and Smash TIGHTS! - sorry that's fashion I suppose but what bliss after stockings or 'hold-ups' that didn't. I used to drink Cremola Foam from my toothmug..........It was banned from boarding school but could sneak a tin up to the dormatory.......Can taste it now.............

I collected tea cards- or rather my cousin did , she grew up and my Aunt decided that sticking them into the books became my task, i have a box of completed books even now, some of them from the 1950's up to when i finished sticking them in-probably middle 70's - Probably worth a few pound, the very early one as they are all complete jess

I'd forgotten Trolls, I used to love them, had loads of them at one time. Wonder if you can still get them :-))))

Those different cards from the P.G. tips boxes, and some little plastic men, what went on the end of a pencil, but not sure where they came from, and those Shell coins, Man in Flight, and think there was a World Cup one, my favourite collection came later on, little fluffy coloured hair Trolls!, and I Spy books!, and pretty marbles! :)

Then there was the bottled school milk which they put by the radiators in the winter to thaw. Used to read the Beano, Dandy, Bunty, and Jackie. My mother had a coal tar thing which she she put a candle in and the smell wafted around the room, for me as I had a bad chest (they call it asthma these days LOL). I still love that smell. Having to sit quietly on a Saturday afternoon when the football results came on as my grandfather used to do the 'pools'.
