Son has just phoned me from hospital. His girlfriend is 22 weeks pregnant. She has been having to have a scan every two weeks due to Placenta Previa. After scan last Wednesday they said all was well and she didnt have to have another scan until 32 weeks. .....She has had pains in her lower back all weekend. Went to hospital in early hours of Sunday morning, had another scan and did blood tests, and said to go back today for a scan. Went for Scan this afternoon and they say all is well with the baby. But they have admitted her because it looks as if she may have gone into labour. What I cannot understand is, Son says when they touch her back where the pain is she is in agony and they are now testing her Kidneys. Does anyone know if this is all to do with the Placenta being low? Will keep you informed. Jenny. **Girlfriend being treated for a Kidney infection. On a couple of drips and carefully monitored. Baby is fine** Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Jenny. xx |

Jenny I had this with my first, I was in hospital for 5 weeks, the placenta was in front of him. i couldn't even lie on my back as I passed out, all the pain was in my back. If it is any consolation, I went full term he was 9lb 60zs, so i will keep my fingers crossed for you all. Hope you have a good outcome as we did XXXXXX |

I had Placenta Previa with my 4th child.I never had that problem. All i can say is i was very heavy at the bottom of my tummy when i stood up and i used to put my hand under the bump to hold it up.I also had to have her in the operating theatre as although i had an inch gap that might have moved the wrong way and blocked that had to be ready for an emergency.Very worring time.Hope all goes well and thinking about your family. I had placenta previa but it can sort its self out before the birth....it sounds more like a kidney infection I suffer from these on a regular basis. Pregnant women are more prone to water & kidney infections don't know why I had 3 water infections plus 2 kidney infections while I was due!! Fingers crossed hugs too xx |
