When I was 5 I had Stephen Johnson's disease, similar to smallpox and spent several weeks in an isolation hospital. They pumped me full of penacillin, which was quite new at that time, and I recovered, but still have some scars. |

I had pre eclampsia when I was pregnant with my twins, nearly died! didnt realise how seriously ill I was till after I recovered and they told me. I was kept in a room next to the operating theatre for three days after they delivered my girls but I was out for the count so havent any recollection of anyting at the time, I was in hospital for five weeks before they were delivered but they never actually explained why, just said I needed rest etc. Happy to be here to tell the tale though. I was born with congenital cataracts for which I had seven operations by the time I was ten, I suffered a detached retina at 18, which after three more operations couldn't be repaired, so I am visually impaired. Suffered for many years with various symptoms, was diagnosed two years ago with addisons disease, at the time I was given less than a week to live, thankfully high doses of steroids and an excellent medical team saved my life. Also have heart valve disease, bronchial asthma, osteoarthritis, osteopenia, gastritis, all of which I have been told is possibly a thing called Sticklers Syndrome, which I am waiting for the results of at present. As you can see I'm fighting fit. M. |

Liz, so sorry about your Zoe, it's really a hard thing to go through and stays with you always. My daughter weighed 2 lbs 4 oz. and was in hospital for just over 2 months. We got to bring her home when she was 5 lbs but I was still quite ill for almost a year after and it was really tough trying to deal with a premmie who wouldn't eat and then my own treatment on top of that. But that was a long time ago she's thrived now almost 28 and the thrill of my life. LOL. Yes Harry what do you mean about addictivitis???? Please explain more detail Deb |

I am 32 and when I was 30 had a severe stroke that nearly killed me.It wiped everything from my brain and I had to learn everything again, Then radiosurgery on my brain to kill the bit that was causing the problems. Now have to wait 3 years to see if it has worked and hope I don't stroke in the meantime. I also have arthritis in my back and knees.......... Happy Easter everyone, Sinead |
