Hi, I've been reading 'The Fatal Shore' by Robert Hughes. It's a bit academic but should be a must for anyone who has rellies who were transported to Australia. Also a good social discourse on the way crime was seen and dealt with just less than two hundred years ago. I've read all four of the Dan Brown books whilst still trying to get through it though! Teresa and Kate, can I just tell you about the Dark Tower books please :-)) there ARE 7, they are ALL out (def in hardback) - cos I've gottem on the shelf here!! Teresa, they just get better (and bigger lol). Kate fyi you will find that the Dark Tower books and all the other books he has written have various interwoven bits - maybe just a name, an idea, a riddle, a location .... there are even a couple of books about that part of it! People who read him for the first time are often quite surprised by how good he is! glad you enjoyed Rose Madder - one of my faves. Best one for me is The Stand - read it gawd about 10 times I reckon !! oh I am just about to start Brave New World for Greaders. Not sure what to expect but will give it a go! Maz. XX |

Kate, the Dark Tower series is his best work and has taken years to write so far. I recommend you read from volume 1 though, or they won't make sense. Not sci fi, but very surreal in parts, it sort of takes place in a sort of 'other' world, could be future, possibly post nuclear, nobody really knows. Wierd things happen, and I couldn't put the first three down. Try Volume 1, its called 'The Gunslinger'. I bet you will want to read the rest then. |

Anne, I've read The Da Vinci Code (who hasn't! lol) I want to read Angels and Demons next. Is that any good? Jeanette, I love Mark Billingham's books. They twist and turn all over the place. I've read a few of his books now, unlike other authors who I've guessed who the killer was, with his I'm always wrong! x |

ROFLMAO Oh Dear, I am really in a bad way. I knew I had posted a reply but couldn't see it. Took me ages to find it then I realised I'd posted my book on Pauls' thread by accident. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah Ok, I'll try again. LOL I am reading A Breath Of Snow And Ashes by Diane Gabaldon It's part of the Jamie Fraser series. I would read a lot more of it if it wasn't for these boards !!!!!!!!!!! There you go , got there in the end. LOL |

Teresa, I normally read Dean Koontz, Graham Masterton never really been able to get into Stephen King. But I saw this Rose Madder book in the library and thought I'd give it a go, and I really enjoyed it, So I thought i'd branch out a bit more. The one you are reading now is that a science fiction one of his? And is it good? x |
