Thanks for the recipe Vivienne. I will try that - it will make a change from Spag Bol and Shepherds Pie (or should that be Cottage Pie?) Suzy

Thats the recipe for Meatloaf alright. Made it many times when my children were little. Did not realise it was American. Most Nations have their own 'cheap' meal recipes don't they? Deanna X

Christine I say close the curtains, but my OH says draw the curtains and it really niggles me. If someone asks me for the right time I feel like telling them I have only got the wrong time - not plucked up the courage to do it yet - might get a clip for been cheeky lol Joanne

Why do we ask someone ' Have you got the right time please?' How many would have the wrong time anyway? also Why is the main light in the middle of the living room called - The big light ' Put the big light on' And do you close the curtains at night or draw your curtains at night? Joanne

American Meat Loaf, as per my ancient OXO book 1 lb any lean stewing beef/ minced 1 1/2 oz fresh breadcrumbs or rolled oats 1 level tsp salt 1 level tsp pepper 1 sm onion 1/4 level tsp ground mace or nutmeg 4 to 8 tbs milk or stock chopped fresh or dried herbs to taste chopped garlic fat/ oil for cooking fry the onion & mix all the ingredients together, adding enough liquid to bind it together. Either shape into a loaf on a baking tray or put into a loaf tin & bake for approx. one hour. Vivienne xx
