Was the Secret Seven the ones where the leader of the gang was called 'Fatty'.........no offence meant to anyone....or were they called something else? I also remember one about a girls boarding school.....Mallory Towers? Susan

Read all the Enid Blytons. Still have Adventure of ... series and Famous Five in hardback. Also used to read the Chalet School books by Elinor M Brent-Dyer. Janice

remember that one Margaret .... magical days ... i used to get my books from library ... no spare pennies to buy ... but there you go .... i used to wonder are there really farmhouses out there that would take in some waif's and a dog and feed em the most magnificent tea's lol ... am talking 50's here food still in short supply .... but lovely escape from reality stories xxx

Rosie, I loved the Castle of Advenure too, I think my fave Adventure book was the Valley of Adventure though, I think that's the one where they all found this massive cave to stay in! It was pure magic in those days. No TV, just books and playing out. (well I watched Rainbow on a lunchtime!).

I remember the very first one I read and that was Mr Galliano's circus. We read in in class when I was about 7 and I just found it amazing! My little boy loved it too, which was great. Although I have to say, it loses it's magic a bit when you get older lol! I've probably read 200 plus books of Enid Blyton, I used to get a few every week to read, and read all the Famous 5, Secret 7, Adventurous 4, Five Finder Outers & a Dog, The Mystery ofs, the Adventure Books, The Secret of .... you name it lol.

Hyah ... i loved em ... read every one several times ... but my favourite enid blyton one was one called ' Castle of Adventure' .... now that was an adventure lol the children did not have a dog twas a parrot i think lol .... my grandaughter who is 18 now loved them too and still got all her copies xxx

Maureen, yes it was Arthur Ransome who wrote swallows and Amazons, set in the Lake District around Coniston I believe. ann Glos

Milly , molly and Mandy , had forgotten them....but the Famous five were my favourite, my children preferred Beatrix Potter...lovely drawings....do children todays still read Enid Blyton ? I also remember the problem with Big Ears and Golly, nonsense wasn't it...
