Yes Polly Anna my mom was the same used to make me read to grandparents as a party piece,think thats why I got the books I got. As Karen said I could read the other books now I suppose,but I'd feel silly buying them. Lol

ME TOO Polly Anna!! My dolls house had a table lamp and a standard lamp. They worked off batteries, and I took them to bed with me. How old are you? I absolutely ADORED Enid Blyton. I must have read all the books she wrote..... even Noddy, although him I don't rememebr reading. Deanna X

Yes I also remember the Seven adventures although cannot remember the titles... I'm gettin too old. My mum used to boast about my reading abilities too. Still, I did boast about my younger daughter and younger sons reading. I loved Katy.... What Katy did...... what Katy did next...... an the The Little women, etc etc etc..... I bought my so all my favourites..... but he sneered at them and frefered Nancy Drew and the Hardy boys! Deanna X

One of the baby boomers Deanna, 1946, big 60 in july and I don't care....Funny how our mum's showed us off....Bet you had frilly dresses and ringlettes.....!!!

I was a war time baby.... 66 this year and couldn't care less either. LOL YES.... ringlets.... frilly dresses, mummy made them all. White socks, white shoes, patent leather shoes...... the bees knees me!! :-0) She was a great dressmaker. I made all my childrens clothes too. Deanna X

snap, my mum made all my clothes right up till iwas 21....Bees knees indeed.....All the sixties stuff , she used to copy them...Matching dresses and coats....! I even had matching shoes...Was never allowed trousers, 'not ladylike...'.. I can't sew a stitch...She made my wedding dress as well and had hundreds of seed pearls sewn in....

I made my daughters wedding dress and half the wedding dresses in my circle of friends!! Headderesses, boquets, the lot. Allan made the cakes and decorated them. TROUSERS???????? don't be daft. LADIES did not wear trousers!! Had my sister been MY daughter, I would have had her dressed in dungarees ALL THE TIME. A Tom Boy of the highest order!! Dresses like a queen now though..... ME, I'm the tramp now!! LOL Deanna X

Susan ... I remember Fatty ... he used to dress in disguise to solve the mysteries . Think there was a Betsy and Pip too ... and of course the dog was in the story too .... always exceptionally intelligent dog as i remember. Those were the days ... many a happy hour Julie xx

I was (and still am!!) a total bookworm as a child, and my parents were really good when it came to keeping me in a constant supply of new books. As the only girl in the family i spent many many happy hours tucked up emersed in a good book. I was a huge fan of Enid Blyton and had all the 'Secret Seven' 'Adventure' and 'Famous Five' series. I really liked the parrot Kiki in the 'Adventure' series, i think she belonged to Jack and he used to join up with Philip, Lucy-Anne and another girl. I saved all my books and passed on to my daughter, who was not as keen, so i am now re-living them all through my youngest, Adam. He thought the Far Away Tree series was silly, but is really enjoying our current book...the Children of Willow Farm. Sadly it is very dated now, and i spend more time explaining things than reading it. I just wish Adam was a girl sometimes as i have literally loads of girls books that i would love to re-read with him....sadly i don't think he will be so keen,lol. Yvette
