found this for you........Unfortunately, once a female cat goes into heat, she will do so again and again (as often as every two weeks) until she is either: a) pregnant or b) spayed. It *is* extremely uncomfortable for her and will get worse rather than better. Your veterinarian may be able to give her shots to make her more comfortable. At one time, they gave male hormones for this purpose, but I think that practice has been discontinued. Female cats in heat will go to any lengths to get outside and mate. I've also heard of toms tearing the screens off windows to get to them. As for bleeding, you'll rarely if ever see any blood from a female cat in heat, but you might want to confine her to a room away from the main door to help keep her confined indoors. ..

you could ask the vet about putting her on tablets / injections to stop her seasons we used to give them to one our dogs who was too small for anaesthetic, but was struggling with her seasons, did the trick for her. you won't get away with having her done secretly, they shave their sides, lol !!!!!

LOL I think he might notice the shaved part and stitches Cherry! Don't know how long it lasts but surely a couple of hours of pain is better for her than going through this every couple of months? Julie xxx

Cherry Report 30 May 2006 15:35

Well a bit like the hairdye then What the eye don't see the heart don't grieve! You can get her fixed up and ready between 9.a.m. and 5.30.!!!! He'll never know!

Sandra B Report 30 May 2006 15:35

They are indoor cats so no contact with other cats....The nearest vet is an hour away....OH , would never speak to me if I had her done.....Have removed all catnip toys as they make her worse, was wondering if there was anything I could give her....

Sandra B

Sandra B Report 30 May 2006 15:30

OH has a soft spot for her and doesn't want her to be in pain!! She has never grown beyond kitten size,,,,and he would kill me if I took her....

Hi I have always had tom cats till now, she has been 'done' Why not phone the vet and ask, might be worth getting her 'done' if it's not too late. I dont really know. Marion
