Last time I saw the menu at the Ivy it was offering 'chips' not even hidden as 'pommes de terres frites' so I guess it isn't pretentious. I also guess the chips wouldn;t be anywhere near as good as my mum's either. Still, wherever you choose, have a good meal. bon appetit! |

Hiya Viv:)) That would be great thanks:) lol Sue - MacDonalds is in me usual price range;) Lynda:))) You'll have to go cheaper cos we can get in the Ivy for about 40 quid ahead;) lol Ruth Thanks Mags & Lunar will have a look at those Ello Alter - the Ivy isn't actually as expensive as I thought it would be and I'm sure I can manage pretentious just for one night:) Diana & Bec - I will have a look at those but isn't one of those the one where you really do feel like yr high up lol Lynda! (again) It's a select family do so I might sqeeze you in lol. Will have a look at Carluccio's cos I like a nice bit of Italian;) BH Linda pmsl stop shouting I know you can get 5 courses and a bottle for tuppence hapenny in bloody Bolton but it's a bit dearer here;))) We thought we'd go mad for once and try somewhere posh to see if it's worth the fuss:)))) Thanks Rosi - was looking at Fifteen earlier cos Anna mentioned it - looks good. Am soo tempted by the Ivy cos of the location and it's not as expensive as I thought as long as we don't drink much:))) |

For my Grandmother's 80th 9 of us went to this amazing hotel for a day and a night. It's a 'gourmet' experience and the Chef and Waiters are there for you only (there's only one table in the restaurant!) It was INCREDIBLE! Everything was fresh, organic and mostly local produce.... check out the sample menus: http://www*buckinghams-table*com/products.php?productId=19 |

Cafe Rouge is yummy but not what I'd call 'special'. In my opinion special is 'Vertigo' which is at the top of Tower 42 (right between Liverpool Street and Bank). It's the highest bar in London and offers 360 degree views over London. It's primarily a Champagne (most expensive bottle is £1,400, - Moet NV Brut Imperial must be pre-ordered) and Cocktail bar. The food is divine and includes Caviar, Oysters and other Seafood. Not great if you're scared of heights but a VERY special place :0) |

What about the OXO tower sweetie - from memory the food is reasonable its the wine that ups the price!! Check this site David as price list on it!! Food used to be fabulous and would imagine still is and STUNNING VIEWS ARE GUARANTEED http://www.oxotower*co*uk/indexIE.html Ooh just seen Mags reply and yeah I've had some lovely meals in there!! xx |

Only good resteraunt I know is a lovely French one in Greenwich called Cafe Rouge - from what there website says they have restaurants all over London. (Can recommend the soup, muscles, cheese stuffed chicken and the fish cakes) Would essimate £20 per head depending on what you order and how much you drink (14 of us ran up a bill of £300 when we went) service charge may be added for groups over 8 (about 10% if memmory serves) http://www.caferouge(.)co.uk/ |
