LOL Mags - you trying to give me nightmares ??? M-I-L indeed !! Your rendition of the day is spot on, but I thought I'd fill in a few details...... Woke up with that familiar fuzzy feeling that says you spent the previous night in the company of Andy Oop Norf (ably assisted by brother John). Jan started the day as she meant to go on in married life by prodding me and nagging me to get out of bed (yeah we spent the previous night together, but she didn't fancy the tent on the lawn option due to the nearby frog pond - frogs being really scary and all that). Took Jan to the hotel to do all that mysterious stuff that girls do and returned to find Andy and John much more interested in toast than any of this wedding stuff. Learned that cufflinks are completely impossible to fathom and began the process of getting hotter and hotter that culminated in having the wedding breakfast in a greenhouse on the hottest day of the year. I thought the food was supposed to be cooked and not the guests lol. Meanwhile the ceremony had been a complete success. Managed not to fluff my lines and was pretty sure nobody noticed me going all teary eyed during Paul (Chunks)'s poignant reading. Actually everbody did notice and were quick to tell me after :-(( Jan looked stunning and we walked in together, led by Holly, who was adorable and made us laugh with her frugal petal distribution and backed up by best man Ian and maid of honour Sharon (aka Mrs Chunks). The music was wonderful - thank you to the Moon Loungers for a quality performance, nobody noticed Jan not being able to get the ring on my finger (OK OK lol) and Henry was clearly born to play Pooh !! The hours seemed to flash by. Food and venue were top class, company was perfect and I finally got the girl (winks at Mrs Marshall) :-))))) It was good to see so many friends and family and of course there was a strong GR contingent present and incorrect lol. The bones of Darren the DJ are being chewed by dogs in the hotel grounds after being picked clean by the predatory Bec as we speak ;-) Mazzie showed up in a posh frock and predictably enough got Darren to play Remember You're a Womble in my honour. Thanks so much Maz. The tequilas were of course a mistake, but at least my mate Dave will have a worse hangover than even Bec did and we weren't last men (& women) standing. That dubious honour of course goes to Andy & John !! Woke up with that familiar fuzzy feeling that says you spent the previous night in the company of Andy Oop Norf LMAO. A fried breakfast cures most things. What a day ! Can we do it again please ? Rick.xx

How could I forget the singers??? LOL Please amend my earlier post to include: Prior to the ceremony itself, we were delighted by the presence and vocal skills of (a couple of blokes with guitars - I haven't got the energy to go upstairs and look ar the Order of The Day to see what their names were!) and the bride and groom entered the room to their rendition of 'Have I Told You Lately That I Love You' The couple were led by an absolutely adorable, cute and beautiful flower girl (my grandaughter) who not so much strew their path with rose petals but was meagre in their distribution (as in ONE at a time) because she 'wanted to save some to take home'!! 'Little Pinkette' was later heard to utter the immortal lines on peeking into her gift bag 'Jan's bought me a really BORING present! A BOX!' Big smiles when she realised that the box contained a beautiful silver locket engraved with her name. Sharon (Mrs Chunks) looking equally resplendent followed Jan and Rick and wore a wrist corsage of yellow roses which left her hands free to grapple either party to the ground should they have tried to escape. Ian, Rick's best man, gave a wonderful speech extolling Rick's expertise at the provision of 'hangover busting fry ups' and also made reference to being told by Rick of his having met someone on an internet site and his bewilderment that she and Rick shared an interest in 'gynaecology' LOL If I've forgotten anything else, I apologise! Again - a wonderful day. OMG!! While typing this, I have had mail from Jan who says that they had such a wonderful time that they are planning to get divorced so they can do it all again!!! - I'm going for a lie down!!! LOL Mags xxx

It was a wonderful day. The bride looked beautiful, the groom looked….well….groomed! And the guests rivalled those at a royal garden party (although, of course, HRH Lynda Pace was in attendance, so it was only natural and expected that they should) The ceremony, held in a high ceilinged room with a ‘medieval’ chandelier that Errol Flynn would have been happy to swash his buckle from, was simple and moving and the readings from Paul (Chunks) and Henry were perfectly matched to the occasion as Jan and Rick are to each other. We enjoyed Pimms on the lawns while photographs were being taken, thankful for the shade of the trees; it was a VERY hot day! And then back into the hotel for lunch, where they introduced us to a new concept in wedding catering by combining the eating of fine victuals with the convenience of not having to move elsewhere or disrobe to enjoy the benefits of a sauna! LOL A brief interlude ensued between the afternoon and the evening celebrations, where a disco was enjoyed and a sumptuous buffet consumed (and Bec, poor girl, got confused and thought she was meant to consume the DJ LOL) Some danced the night away, some of us enjoyed the company of friends both old and new, chatting and drinking on the terrace where, for me personally, I experienced a time slip between thinking I ought to go to bed at around 11pm and 2am when I actually did! Over the last few weeks, I have almost lived this wedding with Jan, helping choose the dress and through fittings and shopping trips. I enjoyed every minute of it. I know I’m not and there may be others that have more claim to the role but I felt like the ‘mother of the bride’ and I’m going to get severe withdrawal symptoms now LOL Congratulations Jan and Rick, not only on your marriage but for the way the whole day went off. Mags xxxx P.S. One horrible thought for Rick – If I WERE Jan’s mum – I WOULD BE YOUR MOTHER IN LAW!!! HAHAHAHA A role I am sure you will agree I am cut out for!
