I agree with Paul, I think it was frustration with himself and be honest, dont we all get frustrated when we haven't achieved our best. He may have been caught on camera, the camera should have been on the match not trying to stir trouble for him. He's a very good player and doesn't need spoiling by the media. I hope he scores a double next match.Good Luck to him. I hope Michael Owen isn't as badly injured as first thought. June xx

Its a shame all the Team have not got his passion for the game, by the looks of tonights match we have got problems. Rooney is just passionate about Football, not the glory.

I'd rather have someone who cares enough to WANT to play................... Reg

I completely agree with Bec-kham and Jean! You need that kind of passion to win world cups!!!

Bec

Bec Report 20 Jun 2006 23:03

Seeing Rooney throwing his boots off was one of the highlights of the game. At least he looked like he wanted to be there! Tenacity, passion and spirit = Rooney! He was clearly disappointed with his own performance (overly so in my opinion, he was better than most of the fit players). As Paul said, the day he stops caring is the day he stops being the awesome talent he is.

Come on here please. We are talking about a very talented YOUNG man. The day he doesn't throw his dummy out of the pram when he's substituted is the day I'll start worrying. If a few more of the England players showed his total commitment we could stroll away with the World Cup. Jean x

Rooney off, Gerrard on, Gerrard scores, need I say more AND GERRARD doesn't behave like a spoilt brat either, kicking his shoes off becuase he's been taken off. But you all know how much I like Rooney anyways! :)) pmsrofl Lyn x x

I think Rooney has a magic touch with the ball sometimes and I would certainly feel frustrated too to be pulled away from something that is so obviously his whole life. Anna x

We'll have to agree to disagree Ann.

Yeah Show that he was frustrated but not by throwing his boot's,support bandages on the floor like a two year old. Let's hope Fergie does take him to one side

Mags

Mags Report 20 Jun 2006 22:30

Come on, he is a great player and I think that it was more about being frustrated with himself. He can't play to his usual standard cos of his injury so I reckon he was a bit peeved! I would be too!

Generally speaking I don,t like bad behaviour. It,s Rooneys spirit and aggression which helps lift him above some of the others. Happy days

Paul

Paul Report 20 Jun 2006 22:27

the day a player is happy to be subbed, is the day he's not good enough to play anymore. I for one was happy to see that he was frustrated. I don't think he was upset at being subbed - I think he was disappointed with his own performance ? what did he do that was so wrong ? all he did was chuck his boots on the floor !

Yep he should contol himself more, but like they said prior to the match he has passion and is so much like Gazza at his best, football mad and mad as a brush and lets himself down at times. Lets just hope that he doesn't go the same way as Gazza and that Ferguson takes him to one side and shows him that he can have the passion but most also contol his moods Joanne

I think Rooney has passion for the game and just wants to play football - he is still young and can throw his teddy at times but I believe that it is his true passion for the game showing through Jo
