Working in a hotel is like no other job, is it Vivienne?..You find yourself 'volunteering' to do shifts you had no intention of doing! You will miss it - I know I did... I'd been in the same hotel for 6 years - the owners needed to retire, hotel was sold and hardly any of us stayed to work for the new company....took me ages to be able to even walk past it. Maybe have a word with other hotels in the area - chances are they will know of you - and I hope you will soon be working again. My situation is better than it was.. The girl who gave in her notice to go to work for a rival has decided against it.. We had a long chat today and the upshot is she doesn't want to leave any more than we want her to go. I'm really pleased...our staff are also friends, it's not just a work thing. She fits in so well and would be sorely missed. Good luck Christine xx

She (the housekeeper) had the gall to sign a card wishing me luck. It went in the bin. The wife of the owner gave me a lovely card & some amethyst worry beads she got in Greece for me. The card will come in handy as a reference. She says 'I feel very sad you are leaving the Castle like this. I can assure you, you have been much appreciated over the 7 1/2yrs you have worked at the Castle. You have done an excellant job & you will be missed.' I'm still going to see if I have a claim for constructive dismissal. Vivienne xx
