The tragic thing is, My Son was fine Friday night, rang me but I was at work, he woke up Saturday feeling a little bad, went to the shops, and was planning to visit me after work with my Mother's day present, felt bad, told a shop worker, went to Accident and Emergency, got discharged with a virus, and just held his head and went. I need a few answers.

Hello Jenny, Hold on fast to the lovely memories you have of him, it does help you through the tough times. I lost my son last September and we had to wait until January for the inquest. All the tests have to be gone through and no one can die in this country without anyone not caring how; that is a good thing you know? If it was an illness or an accident you most likely will be told privately before the hearing, as we were, the cause. The hearing is a formality and although 'Public' is not as bad as it sounds; there are very few people there, normally only those directly involved. The coroner was a very kind and led us gently through the procedure and it's outcome. My thoughts will be with you, (((hugs))) Katxx

Also, how come it takes them so long to deal with it-this must feel like an eternity. In this supposedly child sensitive era we live in wherein issues are at the forefront, there does seem to be some incredible incompetence and over beaurocratic policies employed by these government departments. It must be like water torture for you.

My Son was 34 when he died, so it cannot be a cot death, although they can say sudden adult death - or undistinguised death - but the fact I will hear this in public is what upsets me-even if there is nobody else there besides my family-surely this sort of information should be treated like a funeral, private and confidential

Dear Jennifer, this is awful. I found this 24hr helpline number - sorry if you already have it - but they should be able to answer questions re public inquest, and offer support at this awful time. It's the foundation for sudden infant deaths. 020 7233 2090 So sorry that you are having to go through all this pain. Love, Joy.

As you know I lost my Son almost 15 weeks ago, suddenly-the coroner said it would take between 8-18 weeks for tests to determine cause of death-been told they are waiting for one more report then I will be sent a hearing date for a PUBLIC INQUEST-why must I be told in public-surely a Mother deserves to be told in private. I cannot believe this.
