When I've had irritable bowel syndrome in the past the pain can be really uncomfortable, so I know what you were going through. I hope you are feeling better this morning. No matter what I tried, I could not release the gas, I thought I was going to burst! I had to come home from a meal out once with it, the first time it came on, I'd had a reaction to a desert with a nut on it and it upset my stomach and I just bloated so quickly. I did get tablets from the doctor in the end but that was also linked to stress. I don't get it now but I always drink peppermint tea which is good for digestion. Woops - just read your post again - and saw peppermint made it worse - sorry about that. A pain up under the ribs, if it repeatedly comes on, on the right hand side could be indicative of gall-stones. I had one and I used to bloat with that and I had it removed. I'd go and see the doctor and see if he can give you some tablets for when and if it happens in future. Claire

I had a stomach ulcer 10 years ago and was treated with cimetadine..........now if I have indigestion I take Zantac, two of those and it relieves the pain.......I think it may be difficult for you to take any sort of antacid if you are on anti-ulcer medication because I think one counteracts the other.........if I were you I would go back to the Doctor, perhaps you need a change of medication..........

Babs - try rocking backwards and forwards on your bottom (on chair or loo) massage hands up and down lower back is good too - even if you have to get someone else up to rub your back for you be worth it to get rid of the pain cheers Laurie
