One of my biggest problems is my maternal grandmother ! can't find her at all (or parents/potential siblings) in the 1891 or 1901 (she was born in 1882). I've spent HOURS and HOURS looking for her, have had help from SKS's on here, but no sign... What a pain !!!

I haven't done any for months either Paul, as I came to a standstill on my Mum's side of the family. Luckily over the past couple of week's I have been contacted by someone who has some info for me so that has rekindled my interest. Lindax

im at the same point, I find it difficult because of being in Spain,I cant get to those church yards and places I would like to,all mine is done via the internet and you can only do so much on your computer, I will get more interested in the winter, which is when I do most of my research, a rest does you good sometimes:-))

I have been trying to find my ggdads birth cert for the last 2 years it's very frustrating, just done a ref check on 5 cert and not one came back as him, I have his brothers but wanted to confirm if the parents names were correct. I am going to visit his grave in France in November and I would be made up if I had his birth cert before i go. Got his marriage and death. Catherine xx

Need to do more research of parish records - but trips to Derbyshire and London a bit difficult at the moment, my trip to Glos Records didn't break down my brick walls unfortunately! Have not lost interest though, love working on my tree

Me too - I started researching for a very specific reason, and once I'd got to the bottom of that, with a disappointing outcome, I lost the will a bit. There always seems to be something more urgent to do now! S x

well thank you Linda lol I think in a way the hobby ran its course with me, it filled a gap that needed filling. I'm still interested of course, but don't have the enthusiasm to put in as much time as I'd need to. Maybe something will spark my interest again at some point...

I have three people with the same names married to three people with the same first name in the same year and no way of knowing which is the one I need.... If you get what I mean?! I really need to send for some certificates to get me going again. Also my Ancestry credits have run out so definately need to rob a bank. Do you think they would let me off if they knew what it was for? Or perhaps I could plead insanity....... G

same here Paul, but I thought I had a hot match this morning...but it wasnt :o(( Once I get beyond a certain date, I need parish records, but its too awkward to go travelling down london and elsewhere to churches to do this, especially with 2 kids in tow. Im pleased with the progress, as a novice ive made so far though, and as an only child with a pretty self contained family, its nice to realise more family is out there. Elaine x

Same here Paul. Do very little now. I think with me it is because absolutely nobody in the family show any interest at all and I feel completely alone, so tend now to think 'why on earth do I bother' - it will probably get chucked out when I join the ancestors. Stella

Paul Report 18 Aug 2006 16:22

I think I need a breakthrough to get me going again - like everyone, I have a few brickwalls. But to break them down... I need to be researching !!! lol

How many of us have pretty much come to a standstill with our trees ? I haven't done much research at all for about 6 months, just the odd little bit here and there...
