DRAGONFLY YOU USE YOUR CAPITALS. I DON'T THINK ANYONE MINDS NOW THAT I HAVE EXPLAINED WHY I USE THEM, I PRESUME, IF THEY SEE THEM NOW, THEY THINK ..ANOTHER ONE WITH A SIGHT PROBLEM... WE WILL HAVE TO PUT A SYMBOL BY OUR NAMES. I WILL LOOK INTO THIS AND SEE WHAT I CAN COME UP WITH. OR WE WILL HAVE TO CALL OURSELVES BLIMD AS A BAT 1, AND BLIND AS A BAT 2, THAT'LL CONFUSE 'EM. PIPS XX

ETIQUETTE/NETIQUETTE IS ONLY A (USUALLY TACIT) SET OF AGREEMENTS BETWEEN PEOPLE IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH WHAT IS GOOD MANNERS IN A GIVEN SITUATION. NOT EVERYONE WHO FINDS THEMSELVES IN THAT SITUATION WILL NECESSARILY AGREE, AND THEN THE REST OF THE GROUP AT THE TIME WILL EITHER ACCEPT THE 'ABBERANT' BEHAVIOUR OR 'TUT' IN DISAPPROVAL. :-) THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS TO EVERY RULE, AND PHILLUPA IS ONE OF THEM HERE. BLESS YOU, PHILUPPA; IT'S SO GOOD TO HEAR THAT THINGS ARE BETTER NOW FOR YOU THAN THEY WERE. IT'S SO NICE TO SEE THAT THERE IS TOLERANCE IN THIS REGARD TOO. I ALSO, 'HEAR' CAPITALS IN MY HEAD IN A LOUDER VOICE, AND FIND IT AMUSING. THE POINT ABOUT NOT BEING DEAF IS SO TRUE TOO!

Not another hoo har over Pip using caps. I was made to feel cr*p the other day because I posted ages ago about netiquette regarding shouting on the board and using caps on my tips thread. Its inevitable people will make comments about the full use of caps, Sioux did and so will others, as its widely known caps = shouting on the net....not just this site, And like Sioux, not every person will know of Pips disability so shouldn't be attacked because of it.. I'm assuming Pip can read lower case as she answers threads which are in lower case, so I really dont see the point in everyone replying in upper case. After all, reading full upper case text is difficult as well, I certainly have difficulty in reading the many replies Pip gets.. I can however understand her typing in upper case, as its easier to check spelling that way if you have poor sight. Even though the letters on the keyboard stay the same size regardless if you type in upper or lower.. Elaine x Btw Ive got terrible sight and dad has Glaucoma

HI PIP,, HI ALL THANKS XXXXXXXXXXX

Felicity

Felicity Report 9 Dec 2006 18:39

Elaine you have a very valid point. Phillupa, does it help you to have replies in upper case or can you manage well enough if you type in upper case yourself but everyone responds to you in lower case? I'll be happy to comply with whatever suits you best. :-)

I AM REGISTERED BLIND, BUT AM ONE OF THE LUCKY 98%, WHO ARE NOT TOTALLY BLIND ( I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS STATISTIC, HAVEN'T ACTUALLY SEEN IT FOR MYSELF. ). I HAVE ADAPTED MY KEYBOARD AND THE ROOM I USE TO SUIT MY OWN PARTICULAR SIGHT REQUIREMENTS.I HAVE HUGE LABELED STICKERS ON MY KEYBORD. I HAVE HAND MAGNIFIERS, WHICH I HOLD UP TO THE LARGE FONTS / SMALL FONTS ON SCREEN. WHEN I TYPE E-MAILS, I USE BOLD SIZE 18 FONTS AS A MINIMUM AND REDUCE, FOR SENDING, WHEN I REMEMBER . 400 % IS GOOD FOR ME, TRY IT AND YOU WILL SEE, FOR YOURSELF, HOW BAD / GOOD MY SIGHT IS. I AM NO LONGER SENSITIVE ABOUT MY SIGHT, ASK ME 10YRS AGO WHEN I LOST IT AFTER 30YRS OF PERFECT SIGHT AND YES I WAS SENSITIVE THEN, EVEN MORE SO WHEN I WAS IN TOTAL DARKNESS, FOR 2 YRS AND NOT ALLOWED TO MOVE ABOUT, OTHER THAN TO GO TO THE LOO. THEN I WOULD PROBABLY HAVE KILLED YOU, IF I COULD HAVE SEEN YOU. NOW I HAVE SIGHT IN ONE EYE AND THAT IS NOT GOOD, BUT IT IS HELL OF A LOT BETTER, THAN NO SIGHT, I CAN TELL YOU. I ANSWERED PREVIOUSLY, WHEN ASKED, REPLY TO ME IN WHATEVER SHAPE SIZE OR FORM SUITS YOU, I DO NOT MIND, I HAVE A MAGNIFIER AND A HUSBAND TO HELP ME. I HAVE TRIED TO EXPLAIN, NOT ASK FOR SYMPATHY OR TO MAKE AN ISSUE OR START A ROW. THANKS AGAIN PIPS XX.

Have you tried (If you are on xp) going to accessories, then accessibility, then Magnifier There is a link to the Microsoft web site for a list of windows based magnification utilities I'm using the magnifier whilst typing this and can see the magnified text at the top of my screen ! You can also invert the colours to make it easier to read E x
