I watched Grumpy Old People on BBC 2 last night and was delighted to find myself not alone in my hatred of NYE. I find it the most depressing night of the year and have done for as long as I can remember. Gwynne

Being half Scottish, Hogmanay was always celebrated with the usual rituals in our home.....and we carried it on in married life..... when Mum died I couldn't bear to go through them again.....so opted to disregard parties etc. and go to bed......last year Dad spent Christmas and new Year with us, and we stayed up and saw the New Year in, wishing each other good health......in my Dad's case that was not to be......so this year it will be back to bed as usual.....
