I'm sobbing my heart out here, it was so wonderful. I have saved it in my favourites so that hubby can watch it when he comes in later. Thank you for telling us about it. Dianne xx

What a brilliant piece of film! The music is by Vangelis - from the film '1492' - forgettable film but great music!!

OH and I have just watched it together. fantastic and what brilliant women to have thought of it and organised it and wasn't it wonderful to see all the horses sticking together as they crossed. Thanks for telling us Chris

Thanks for that, Sheila. The solution was so brilliantly simple, wasn't it? SHOW the horses what to do and that they would come to no harm and they would do it. After their friends and family drowned, it wasn't surprising that they didn't want to set a hoof in the water. Anyone know where the herd came from or went to?

The horses were in Marrum, 90 miles north east of Amsterdam. There was submerged barbed wire so fire fighters and animal rescue workers waded out and plotted a route before the women went out to save them. One horse failed to follow but was brought to safety by workers. It collapsed and needed veterinary treatment. A complaint has been lodged against the horse owners who failed to heed the storm warnings! Chris

gosh with barbed wire under the water that made it even more dangerous and miraculous

Thanks for the information, Chris. I've watched the clip several times now and think it's a great pity that we don't see good news on the TV more often. I'm sure there's plenty of it. It's all the more a piece of good news when it's realised how extra dangerous the episode really was with barbed wire in the water.
