MY son is off to Belize in 2 weeks..

Hi I live in a garrison town (Aldershot) and a lot of the young lads are off to Belize in the next few weeks too, to do their 'Jungle Training'. My daughter works in the only Army supply shop in the town, it's a civvy shop. I am amazed at the amount of stuff they have to buy for their trip because the Army dosen't supply it. They spend on average £150-£200 on kit! Including comfy boots, cammy creme, insect repelent, map holders, torches etc. Then they have to bring their webbing in to have pockets sewn on them, because there arn't enough pockets on them eg, extra ammo pockets. You would have though that the Army would supply everything, but no, all the poor lads get is a basic kit.
