Theresa, Well spoken. I have been out all day until now so am unaware of trouble having brewed up yet again. I too will speak to whome I choose and, as I have said before, it is often 6 of one and half dozen of the other, like it is with children. I would never have believed that adults could behave like some on here before I started to chat on the message boards, and this does go right back to the beginning because there have always been 'spats' on here. However, it does seem to have been worse the last year or so. I must say I have never heard or seen anything against yourself and always enjoy your posts and threads. I hope that after your op you will feel you can bring your very welcome voice of reason back to the boards. ann Glos

I havent seen the comments from last week re the candles site, i just hope my Mum hasnt either (Bernice). I would like to know who made any nasty comments and who has questioned my Mums integrity (im assuming it has been). Id be grateful if some one would enlighten me by pm. Woody, my sentiments exactly. My membership expires in about 10 days and I don't think I will renew straight away. If I do, it will only be driven by my family tree. x lesley

i have said for a long time there are others on here who want this upset,i for one get fed up with it,what teresa has just said its true,and to the point. but the fingers are usually pointed at ...........and i really hate this term ..........them and us.yuk.there now ive said it. but i think there is someone or even a few others who want to use one incedent to keep the trouble brewing.via the them and us thing. its always been blown out of proportion,and alot of lies added. there can be peace on the boards but people need to hold there hand out.it does,nt mean we have to be great buddies.but its a start towards peace. THINK ABOUT IT PLEASE

Hi Teresa I have been a member of GR for a couple of years...so I cant say i am new...but like Hovis i can also say i dont really know what has been going on. I, like you are a free thinking adult, i add to threads that interest me and add some of my own. In no way am i taking sides....i dont even know what the sides are or what this GRLot is, let alone who they are. And to be honest, i am happy that way. If i see an injustice i may speak out...but sometimes i just flip to the next post, as i have enough rubbish going on in real life, without adding to it by getting involved in cyber rows I really like GR as a websoite (although it is rather slow sometimes) I have made some great contacts aswell as some fab friends on here. So come on everyone...live and let live, only say to others what you would have said to you, and if someone is rude, nasty or pi**es you off...dont add to their thread...if no -one ever added they would soon get bored and move on. Well said, TW! I couldn't put it better. I will speak to whomsoever I wish but I will always be mindful of my words. Since the first time I ever posted - about 9 months after joining - I have made a personal rule. Would I be happy for my mother or my children to read what I've written? If the answer is no, then I do not send. Hope your op goes okay, Teresa, my membership expires in May and I have not yet decided whether I will renew. I would be very sad if you decided not to return, Teresa, as I post very little of late, and your threads are always thoughtful and interesting. We have had a few laughs and I am so sorry to see the General divided into factions. As you say there is no excuse for the appalling comments on the lovely Candle thread, but the words that leap out of your thread - to me anyway - are 'bitteness' and grudge.' Unless these are put aside, once and for all, peace will not be restored on this site. BC XXX

I can't mention all the friends I have made on these boards, but I would like to make a special mention to Penny, as she has been so helpful and supportive to me and my sister in recent times. Penny you are one special person. XXX

Enough is enough everyone. I am sick and tired of seeing all the cr*p on these boards, all the finger-pointing and false accusations, all the paranoia, the stirring, the PM campaigns against others, the dictating and backstabbing. It's time we all grew up. A few minutes ago I came in to this site to find yet more people are leaving. Two useful and sensible people in Colin and Jackie are leaving because they can't take any more of the above, even though they are only trying to be nice people. The worst thing here is the bitterness on these board, where people insist on time and again bringing up old quarrels, for goodness sake, put it away, turn the page and MOVE ON!! If you don't you will only become so embittered nobody will want to know. Now for some home truths. For months I spoke only to those who I dared to, because of what other people are saying. I was not involved in the GRLot fiasco, but I do know, through searching old threads, that there was plenty of history long before then, when certain people were involved in row after row on these boards. GRLot did not happen out of the blue! That is plain to anyone who can be bothered to look at the background. THAT IS NOT EXCUSING WHAT WAS DONE, THERE IS NO EXCUSE! But emotions run high, and what happened on XGR in the first few days isn't much better. I am ashamed to say I was part of that, and regret the things I said. I have been the subject of a PM whispering campaign recently, where people who I considered friends, turned on me because I, as a free thinking adult, decided that I would speak and be civil to those who were civil to me. Unfortunately that included the 'nasty gang' as they are referred to. since then I have been accused, wrongly, of trying to hound one or two people of these boards! How? I really don't know, when I have always said that there is room for everyone, and we all know who do avoid should we wish to do so. I know this campaign went on, because soemone was told something in confidence, which was obviously told to someone else, who as is her wont, posted it on the board. It wasn't nasty, or spiteful, but did confirm my suspicions. Soem of you would be very surprised if I had any wish to name names, I can guarantee that. I was very hurt and upset. I have defended Elaine regarding the fanny smith etc, bullying, it was out of order, no two ways about it. I politely and reasonably suggested, with all due respect that maybe she should not continue to react on the boards as she had with several threads, as this is obviously what the bully wanted. Several people agreed with me on the board AND in PM, so I know I wasn't wrong, and it was only an opinion, but I was shot down in flames and treated as though I was the bully him/her self by the very person I was trying to help! What did I do wrong? I gave up after that. You can go through life being a victim or you can go through life being bigger than them. you have a choice, so be it. It has just come to my attention that a week ago, on a thread by Errol the Sheep, that I was in conference with Errol over some comments made in the debate, by way of getting at Lynda. What a stupid crass thing to say! I am my own person, I make up my own mind, I do not hide behind others. I am NOT a stirrer. With regard to the candle thing today, I have not seen them, but what I did see was a very similar incident last week, presumably by the same very sick person, who obviously does not take sides. It was horrible, two candles were lit for Donna, who at the time was in serious trouble on life-support. The messages I cannot bring myself to repeat on here, though from what I read on the boards just now, they were in a similar vein to those. The so-called GRLot contacted the site managers and got them removed quickly and also made sure that no references to them were left on the boards in case Bernice should see them. Clearly there is one very sick person on here who loves to stir and cause these rows that we are witnessing, who has done this to both 'sides'. And here you all are pointing the finger and blaming people when there is no need. My subscription is due next month,but I will be taking time off the boards for a while as I am due in hospital within the next few weeks, I received my first appointment this morning. Before I pay again, after my op, I will watch the boards very carefully before deciding whether or not to bother. I am disgusted at the lot of you! It's worse than a school playground in here and ashamed to have ever been a part of it. I can't even put up a decent debate thread without being condemned for it, so to hell with it all! For those that have proved themselves good friends to me, I will obviously keep in touch if I decide not to bother renewing. Especially Hayley, who has been brilliant, and is a genuine, caring and fun person, and BC who has given me many good laughs. Frances, who I will continue to meet for coffee, and Chris Houselander, who I think is one lovely woman with a huge heart of gold, who I hope can make it to more mini meets in Norwich. Also Liz, Purple Poinsettia, who with a bit of luck, we can have our diaries coincide and actually get to meet up. There are some lovely people on here, its a great pity that the few who appear to want to control these boards, have to spoil it. And believe me, there are plenty of them in both 'sides' that are as bad as one another. Today I can't handle them, I have enough to think about. I have tried my best to be friendly and helpful to everyone. This I know was my mistake! More fool me.
