Helen in Kent

Helen in Kent Report 28 Apr 2007 13:57

Hi all, The earth didn't move here!!! We are near the East Sussex border and the first I knew of it was when a worried London friend phoned me. Val is in Ashford so I would have thought she was ok - they are saying on Radio Kent just now that the epi-centre is actually in the channel so the coastal towns are more likely to be have been affected - Is Margaret in Broadstairs? I can't remember, sorry Margaret. So Dover, Folkestone, Sandwich, etc. You lot probably know more than me. There was a rumour it was an explosion at Pfizers, medical/chemical business in Sandwich, but I think that was hearsay. Glad everyone seems to be ok.

Hope all GR members in Kent area are now recovering from the shock of being in an earthquake, and have not suffered any damage to their homes. We had a big one here in Dudley 2002, late at night, I jumped out of bed when it happened as the wall nearest my bed was visibly shaking, I ran to the window as I thought a car had smashed into the house, but saw all the other neighbours out on he street looking too, then realised what it was. Joy

largest earthquake for 58 years,,one lady taken to hospital, not badly hurt, I think most of the quake was under the sea, just of the coast of Ashford...information is from Sky news.....I live about 40 miles from Ashford, and didn't feel anything, but up in Suffolk, which is about 120 miles from Ashford, they did, I guess it was just the way the quake went!...and the path it follows.....Lilly
