I’ll never know if this was a scam.

Some years ago I had a call from someone with a heart accent saying they were from the Justice Department or some such. Told them there was no such thing inthe UK and out the phone down. Then realised that it was the new name for part of the shone Office.

Mine was slightly different, Brian.

Hammersmith Police Station were supposedly phoning to tell me that my grandson was there and needed funds.
As my only grandson was working abroad at the time, they didn't get very far with me.

Strangely, I had the same scam call about two years apart claiming to be from Shepherd's Bush nick and they'd picked up a young man using a clone of my credit card so they were sending a courier to pick up my genuine card to compare.

Needless to say I didn't take the bait but it was very convincing both times, although there were enough discrepancies to give the game away, for example I aked for the "policeman's" collar number and was given a four didget one whereas with a copper in the family I knew it should only be three.

Not heard that one before Andysmum .
We have the annoying messages about loft surveys and installation. Not scams just very annoying.
OH gets texts about claiming for something to do with his purchase of a car apparently their records show he purchased a car. I hope he hasn't as he can't drive. lol.

We don't get a lot of scam calls but when we do they tend to be the same one repeatedly.

We have been getting one about Bank Security, an automated one, but today it was new. The automated voice was the same and whoever wrote the script obviously doesn't know much about the UK.

It informed me that the Metropolitan Police were about to arrest me because of criminal activity involving my National ID Card. :-S :-S :-S

Anyone else had this one?
