Sounds like a feasible possibility, JoyLouise.

I found an Environmental Agency document that states that Curry Marsh, Stanford-le-Hope would be designated as a main river. It makes me wonder whether Curry Rivel was actually Curry River and it is now marshland.

Interesting read that, from several years ago, ArgyllGran as it seems to confirm Curry Rivel as a place in Essex as I am searching for different people from Curry Rivel.

I have come to the conclusion that as there was a Curry Marsh sewer at Stanford-le-Hope, Essex then there may have been a Curry River or a hamlet near there. I also found a Curry Marsh Explosive Factory in Stanford-le-Hope.

I wonder if anyone can help, please?

I have a John Beereman marrying an Agnes Whitebread in 1588 at Curry Rivel, Essex, also a Probate for John Bearman, Beereman in 1643 at Gt Birch, Essex which came from the book entitled Marriages at Curry Rivel 1642 to1812 .

The collection is given as 'Essex, Hertfordshire: Chelmsford-Wills 1620-1720'.

Curry Rivel has me baffled as Google keeps telling me it is not in Essex but it is in Somerset - miles away and clearly wrong in this instance.

Can anyone enlighten me, please?
