Dear All

Hello

Good evening.

Well done to the Lady Roses in the rugby this afternoon. :-D
Absolutely brillant.

Sweet image of the lady rugby player carrying her baby and walking around the field, to the cheers of the crowd. <3

If you are watching, enjoy the dancing.

May your evening be one of peace and have a restful night of sleep.

Take gentle care
Love from EOS

Afternoon everyone :-) <3

Been mopping downstairs all morning and most of the afternoon. The paint dust just doesn't seem to want to be picked up :-(

I've had to stop and sit on the computer chair which is the most comfortable thing we've got to sit on at the moment. The landing bathroom and toilet are going to have to wait. I have a problem with my spine so I usually try to avoid the sort of stuff I've been doing the last couple of weeks but needs must.

I just wish the carpet hadn't been delayed by 2 to 3 weeks which means that even if we get what bit of the house we can clean we still have to wait before moving all the furniture back (we just couldn't do it now and then have to move it all out and back in again).

Moan over.

Belle - so glad I don't like figs! Who knew ?

I have been making the most of the dry and sunny weather to tackle my neglected garden. Pleased with what I've done so far!
The promised rain hasn't arrived yet, and there's been some sun.

Very interesting Belle. Are figs vegan? Or are they just a figment of the imagination? ;-) :-D

I've not been watching much rugby recently, but I'm ready to support the Red Roses this afternoon <3 I watched the semi.

I may be having some visitors later.
Have a great day Everyone <3

Gwyn, Google says

Figs are not always vegan because the natural fig-wasp pollination process involves a wasp dying inside the fig. However, many commercially grown figs, particularly in Western countries, are self-pollinating (parthenocarpic), meaning they are pollinated by plant hormones and are considered vegan. Whether figs are vegan ultimately depends on an individual vegan's interpretation of the symbiotic relationship and their personal comfort with consuming a product that may have involved the death of an insect during its natural development.
The natural fig-wasp pollination process:
Symbiotic relationship: The fig tree and the fig wasp have a mutually beneficial relationship, a natural process where both species depend on each other for survival and reproduction.
Wasp's role: A female wasp enters the fig to lay eggs, but in the process, her wings and antennae get broken off, and she dies inside the fig.
Fig development: The fig then digests the wasp's body and uses it for its own nutrients to develop and mature the fruit.
Why this makes figs controversial for some vegans:
Consumption of an insect: Some vegans view the death of the wasp as an animal product being consumed.
Ethical stance: While not intentionally cruel, some vegans may still prefer to avoid products that are not plant-based.
Why many figs ARE considered vegan:
Self-pollinating varieties: Most commercially sold figs, like the common fig (Ficus carica), are self-pollinating and do not need wasps to develop.
Plant hormones: Farmers use plant hormones to induce fruit ripening and development without the involvement of wasps.
No trace of the wasp: By the time a fig is ripe and ready to eat, there is no trace of the wasp's body; it is impossible to see or taste.
What to do if you want to ensure your figs are vegan:
Look for self-pollinating varieties: Varieties such as Brown Turkey and Celeste are self-pollinating and thus vegan.
Check with the farmer or seller: Ask about the pollination method used, especially for figs not grown in the Mediterranean or Middle East.
Grow your own: You can grow your own fig tree from a self-pollinating variety.
Make your own decision: Ultimately, the decision of whether to eat figs is a personal one for vegans to make based on their understanding and interpretation of the natural process and ethical principles.

Morning everyone :-) <3

Here's another one who hasn't ventured out yet, but the day looks sunny and bright.

Daughter will be watching the match, but I have to go out part way through, so might have to catch up later.

A whole week ahead with no medical appointments or phone consultations, - that's a rarity in these last few months :-|
Flu jab next weekend though.

Hope Maddie is well enough to enjoy all today's entertainment <3

Nearly October and 'carpet' day Kath.
Bet you can't wait to get straight and have somewhere comfortable to sit.
