Florence have you given your tomatoes a feed because they need it as soon as the first flowers have set. :-)

Morning all looking in today.
A change in the weather as cooler and cloudy here but still bright.
I have lots of small chores to do today indoors and out so hopefully a productive day.
my tomato plant laves have suddenly gone yellow and the top leaves were curling??? They have been watered regularly so no idea what's wrong. but last night I decided to repot into bigger pots as the roots were crowding the pots they were in so maybe needed more room? We shall see how they go but it would be a shame if they died as loads of yellow flowers and 2 baby tomatoes growing.
Joan you have been very busy but a shame you have hay fever. hope it passes soon. I have filled my freezer with lollies and if you fill a glass with cold water and then put a lolly in the glass, it will give you an iced cold drink in next to no time.
The blossom does make a mess I guess but thats nature for you!
Hope everyone else is well and fine today

Good afternoon, after yesterdays dull & cooler day today it is VERY warm, even with the wind it is rather hot. I have been outside & done some more clipping & straightening of the hedge, still the other side to do yet but i'm rather warm with what I have done so far.
I did try to sweep up the Blossom as well but there is sooo much of it, I have never before seen such a lot, some of it is from the Apple tree, just wish the wind would blow it away instead of it just scattering it all over the place.
Not doing much more in the garden just now, I am sneezing at the moment & got a runny nose, Hayfever, so best to stay inside for a while. Ice Lolly time, LOL.
Joan.

That is the trouble with cherry trees Joan, they don’t last very well. A couple of houses back, we had a cherry tree right near the front door. When it was in blossom, we couldn’t use the door because even a slight breeze would fill the hallway with blossom. Even worse, it was a tree lined road with Lime trees and anyone who was rash enough to park under a tree ended up with horrible sticky resin on the car which was really difficult to wash off. We had tall Beech hedges all round the last house, so OH was pleased when we moved here and he didn’t have to cut them. There was a large Laurel hedge on one side of the back garden, but it was on the neighbours land and annoyingly he has cut it down. Luckily he never comes out into his garden, so it doesn’t worry us. If a family moved in, we would have to build something to give us more privacy, but he is younger than us, so hopefully will stay put

Hi. It started off a bit dull today but by dinner time it had brightened up a lot & then the sun came out, though it is a bit windy I ventured outside.
First of all it was just to see what it was like & maybe doing some work, it was quite pleasant so I decided to have a go at trimming the shortest of the 2 hedges, the really long one I cut riight down last year to about 2 feet from the ground so I am leaving it this year to grow back a bit more, maybe to about 4 feet high. I might have to level up various bits of it as my cutting back wasn't exactly striaght !! LOL.
So I made a start on the shorter one though there is still some length to it, I got along one side of it & some of it along the top done, once I have done the rest I will need to go along it again to straighten it up properly, at the moment it's a bit wavy !!
I'm too tired to clip any more of it today so hoping we get a fine day tomorrow as I don't want to leave it wavy & half finished for too long. The wind had blown lots of Blossom off the Cherry trees this week, the garden & the paths are well covered, it looks like confetti & there has been a wedding in the garden.
Joan.

Linda when I worked in education, i did 1-1 and those children always wanted to stay with me the whole time. I think it was because they had my undivided attention.
i enjoyed all my learning support work over the 15 years i was working and still miss it as it was a very rewarding job.
Sunny but very breezy day so much so, im not planting the last few plants and getting blown away! They can wait until tom if it dies down.
Everything is so bone dry. The raised bed down the bottom of the garden still has giant tulips in full bloom which look amazing but the earth is all cracking due to the lack of rain even though we water with the hose nightly!
Re logging in, i have never logged out in nearly 20 years lol
Sylvia, good to see you posting. Glad you had some time with your daughter too but its hard when family are so far away.
Went out for a spin this afternoon and stopped for coffee and cake on the way home. Nice wee jaunt to break up the day.
Off to sort out the eve meal now.
Hope everyone is ok today.

I never log out and I don’t have a problem, but then I am not awake so early I keep all my log ins in a password manager, so it is on all my devices.
It is still cloudy today, but a bit warmer than it has been. I have just finished pricking out some more seedlings in the greenhouse. My next door neighbour is going to water them when we are away next week. The garden will be fine as it is going to rain, of course it is, it is half term and we are going away :-|
I did my school reading this afternoon, I am doing Monday and Wednesday afternoons instead of trying to rush through all of them on a Monday. They are mostly doing well, the funniest is a Ukrainian boy. He is doing very well, but the way he pronounces some vowels is very strange. He likes reading to me and doesn’t want to go back to the classroom. I am not flattering myself, I think he just hates writing :-)

I am sure it is cryptically written in a notebook somewhere. I don't think with facebook it will help security much. Instinct tells me the site is not that secure anyway.

I was about to say the same as Names. Log out when you have finished tonight and log back on in the morning and see what happens. I don’t see why it would make any difference but it does seem odd that those of us who log out seem able to get back in with no problems.

Ann, try logging out this evening and then logging in tomorrow to see if there is any difference.
On the odd occasion when I couldn’t sleeping would not have any problems logging in in the middle of the night.

Well done Sylvia It does seem to be hit and miss. I was up really early, just after 61m this morning and I have tried every fifteen minutes since then and just got in now at 0740. I just kept getting the error message, sometimes I had five or six goes at trying. I think something must be powrered down over night and they don't worry as much now as there are not many overseas members and not many UK either so it is probably cost cutting, I suppose better than not having GR at all.

I managed to get in!!!
I've had continuous problems with this site.
We have changeable weather ............. sun, temperatures up to 18C or so for 3 or 4 days, then cloudy, temperature down in the low teens, and rainy. There's even been snow on the higher ground.
Otherwise, life goes on its merry way. My daughter was here for 5 days from the 9th to the 14th of May. It was great to see her, she talked a lot to her father, and did some little jobs for me. Her next visit will probably not be until November.
I wish she didn't live so far away! She also wishes we were closer and could see each other more often.

We have had another cold dreary day, but the sun is out now, far too late to do anything. The builder turned up yesterday and worked all day. He got over half the steps done, the more difficult ones , but then ran out of cement. He says he is coming back one night this week to finish it. He has all the preparation done and hopefully it won’t take long. I am sure he will come back as he doesn’t get his money until he has finished. They are looking good, but I hoped that he would have got it all finished as I have a lot of plants in the greenhouse which need to go out before we go away next weekend. If he turns up at the start of the week, that should be fine, but if it is later in the week, OH won’t have time to do what he needs to do so I can get the plants in.

Not the nicest of days today, no sun all day just cold & windy, I thought it might rain but it hasn't yet, haven't had any rain for such a long time.
I have had avery lazy day, other than making my meals I haven't done anything else, hope it's a better day tomorrow as I need to get on with the garden work.
The 2 stray cows didn't get into my garden Florence thanks to daughter managing to get them back into the field they had escaped from. The cows are still quite young & a bit flighty so it's possible they actually jumped the fencing which they can do if they are spooked & start cgarging round the field, ?
Joan.

Afternoon all looking in.
change in the weather today as much cooler and a stiff NE breeze but at least it keeps the beasties away!
decided to water the plants just now and not later as we were busy all yesterday and out for a birthday meal so was far too late when we got back. the plants were oh so dry earlier and def needed lots of water.
My courgette plant is enormous with one flower opened and several more on the way. i never realised how big it would grow. Lots of pea pods now swelling so wont be long until we can eat them.
So glad the cows didnt ruin your garden Joan, what a nuisance they can get out!! The farmer should stockproof them better.
Making chinese chicken wings for tea and have just put them in the oven in a huge dish. Lots of mushrooms and onions too. been awhile since I made this so looking forward to eating later on.
Hope everyone is well today

After a cool start first thing it's another lovely sunny day here, a bit of wind but nothing serious. I am managing to get outside for 1/2 hour bursts throughout the days,so things are beginning to look much better, done quite a lot of trimming here and there, & dealt with a LOT of weeds, not tried the new weed burner yet !! I'm just a little nervous but once I have tried it out I should be ok, it's a bit smaller than I was expecting so not at all heavy so I should be ok using it !!
Did the weekly shop yesterday, we had to go in the afternoon this time as daughter has to be elsewhere in the morning, I'm not keen at changing my usual shopping time having always done the shop on Thursday morning for very many years. The checkout staff are different & the shelves are well picked over by late afternoon.
I'm about to venture outside once again & do some more trimming etc, daughter came over on Weds & cut the 2 areas of grass, she has made a lovely job, just wish it would stay short, it takes such a long time to do all the grassed areas, after she had done that she spent some time getting 2 cows back into the field they had escaped from ! Thankfully she managed to get them sorted, if they had stayed in the wrong field they could have then got into my garden !!
Right girls, time to do some work, have a lovley day.
Joan.

You have been lucky with your weather Florence. It has been a horrible day here , grey, cloudy and cold. It is supposed to be sunny again tomorrow, so fingers crossed it happens.
I have had a busy day, it was my slimming class this morning then I had to go shopping for my daughter, answering her “Mum are you busy? “ plea. This afternoon, I had a dental hygienist appointment in Harrogate, so OH came on the bus with me as he wanted to buy some new gardening shoes. The old ones he currently wears are absolutely falling to bits. He looked around while I went to the dentist, but couldn’t find anything suitable. He then for some odd reason looked in Primark and found just what he wanted, reduced to £10. That pleased the Yorkshire man in him :-D
We got back home in plenty of time to collect Eve from her school bus and take her to her piano lesson as we usually do on Thursday, but she phoned to say that she had missed the bus. The choir she is in had been practicing for speech day on Saturday. The rehearsal was supposed to finish at 4 pm, but the teacher wouldn’t let them go until twenty past because she wanted it to be perfect. By the time she got to the coach park, all the buses had left. She wasn’t the only one left behind. That meant we had to do a twenty minute drive to collect her and twenty minutes back, of course :-|
It is an exciting day for them tomorrow because they are going to see the Wiggles show. Esme has a met and greet with them first thing, then they are watching the show about 11am. Despite her teenage years, Eve is actually looking forward to it as well. When the booking opened, they knew that the tickets would be snapped up in seconds. There are two shows in the day, so my daughter was on one ,laptop trying to get tickets for the morning show and son in law on another laptop trying for the afternoon one. Amazingly they both got tickets. They were going to return the afternoon ones, knowing they would be snapped up, but they decided to keep them. SIL will take Eve back to school after the first show and Esme and mum will go to the second one. As they had spare tickets, they have invited Esme’s best friend and her grandma, so they are delighted to be able to go. I am jealous as I would quite liked to have seen them :-)
