Good afternoon to you all. Another warm sunny day for us once again, there is a nice breeze now which is most welcome, when doing the various tasks.
I was out to Morrisons this morning & it was so calm I was melting. I gained many more More Points today, & yet another £5 off voucher to use against my next shop, I have 5 of these vouchers to use up now. Every little helps, lol.
Having a break from garden work today, doing the weekly shop is more than enough, thanks goodness my daughter takes me & helps to put it away when we get home.
I do feel better after the transfusion & taking the Iron pills, not sure how much longer I will be taking the I pills, been on them since April.
Joan.

Overcast, cool, and breezy today - a relief after yesterday's heat.
You're having a whole new happy life these days, by the sound of it, Florence!
It's good to know you're feeling so much more energetic, Joan. The iron pills are clearly doing their job, and will make you feel better in mood as well as energy level.
Happy holiday, Linda! I hope the emergency tops are proving better than you thought.
Ginnie - that sounds painful. Hope it clears away soon.
No particular news from here - I'm just saying hello!

Morning all looking in.
had a lovely run out yesterday to a beach we have never been to before. Was very hot & sunny here so didnt stay in the direct sun too long.
Found a small cafe so coffee and cake was had, of course :-D
By the time we got back the fog descended and you could hardly see across the road!
We are on thunderstorm alert today but so far nothing has happened thank goodness as im quite nervous of storms.
Joan you have been busy with your hedge and sweeping up but remember to take some breaks! Glad your bloods have gone up a bit now. You will feel the benefits of that im sure.
Ginnie, sorry to hear about your leg. Lets hope the meds get rid of the infection. Wonder what caused it?
Yes i made soup with all our own veg and was very tasty.
Linda hope you and your family are having a great time and good weather at centreparcs.
In the tunnel 2 days ago we realised what had eaten all the leaves on the swede and it wasnt a slug!
For some reason i decided to look on the underside of a leaf and all became clear. There were mini caterpillars incubating no less. Hundreds of them and a few live green ones. A cabbage white had been in the tunnel a couple of weeks ago and obviously it laid hundreds of eggs grrrr.
This would explain the cauliflower leaves as well earlier on.
We drove yesterday to the garden centre and bought a fruit & veg friendly spray and it seems to have done the trick.
I cut all the leaves off the swede so all the eggs have gone .....for now!
Started off foggy here but its lifting and the sun is trying to peep through.
Hopefully we will escape the storms they forecast and the deluge of rain.
Have a good day all

Oh my, such heat ! It was nice & cool first thing but since about 10--00am it has been VERY warm,.hot even !
Our daughter & grandaughter came over this morning & helped in the garden, daughter cut all the grassed areas of which there is a lot, & then trimmed back the long Rugosa hedge, grandaughter hacked off all the new growth coming out of the 2 mature Sycamores.
These 2 trees were cut down several years ago but are still alive !!! & every year they put out new leaves/branches, I have thrown everything at them, but they ate still not giving up.
I did all the raking & sweeping up of the hrdge clippings & stuff from the trees.
I have just been outside to tidy away the tools & it is still soo warm & flat calm.
Joan.

Joan, I hope your bloods stay ok so you don't have to go to the Drs so much. Our surgery isn't to far but still a bus ride away. Always have to allow for buses turning up as well as if you arrive late by 4 mins. they won't see you even if the Dr is running late by 30mins. They go by the time that you sign in. Then we are put down as a missed appt. if late.
Ann, yes we are lucky with the Dr appts. but at the same time unlucky in having to use them so much. lol. Living in a very built up area we have several surgery around some very good and some not so good. All are very busy.
Hot again today so won't be doing much in the house or garden .
Have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone. Sorry to here you are mot too well Ginnie, I hope your A biotics sort out the leg problem soon. like you I was also getting fed up of the constant GP appointments in recent weeks, thankfully the last one 2 weeks ago seems to be the last for a while.
It was for yet another blood test & slowly but sowly my bl count has gone up, it was as low as 47 back in April so had to have a transfusion, following that it went up to 87, then I was given a course of Iron tabs which saw my count go up again to 93,the last one showed it had now reached 115.. GP seems happy with this (atm) but i still have to take the iron pills !
Some of you seem to be enjoying life just now, with trips here & there, what a shame you had to purchase some new tops Linda, but you have a lot of things on yout mind with all that you do re your family, it's easy tp forget something from time to time.
I have been outside today, just managed an hour as it's sooo hot out there ! I just had to do something with the wavy hedge, lol. Only thing was I had to actually start again at the beginning of it as the wavy top was now covered in clumps of NEW growth over a foot high !!. I have only managed half the length today but it looks straighter than previously, just hope I can get it finished off tomorrow.
Joan.

Hello everyone,
Just got back from the GPs with another week of antibiotics to take. I have an infection in my leg which is taking a long time to get rid of. Not sure what caused it but it has been very painful. Not caused by insect bite that I could see. Not been to the Drs so many times before.
Hope everyone is ok with the heat and enjoying the sunshine .
Enjoy your holiday Linda.
Florence it sounds like you will have a freezer full of veg . Lovely homegrown Veg can't beat it.

Morning all Oh dear Linda!! How did you forget your clothes? Hope you are managing with what you managed to buy.
Hope you all have a good time anyway and the weather is kind to you. Yes ArgyllGran and Linda some of my entries were shown on that table but not all of them.
My first prize for a fruit loaf is next to a red card at the top leftish part of the pic but not very visible. my soda bread isnt in the picture or my date and oat slices.
At last the wind has abated as its been a gale here for a few days. Yesterday we went over to town and oh my, it lashed it down and we nearly got blown over, was awful.
Our little poochie is 11 today bless her so we have a card and a few pressies for her.
First time in ages. Im making a pan of veg & lentil soup with our own veg :-D
I have frozen all the peas and now have a large bag which will do a couple of meals.
Clearing up day today and wrapping pressies for my sons 30th next Friday. Daughter is going over with them and i have had a cake made which will be delivered. So hope he likes it. F1 theme and darts.
Hope everyone looking in is well today

We went into Penrith this morning before our booked activities. We went back to Morrisons because there were a few groceries we needed. I bought three tops from there. The trouble was they don’t have changing rooms, so nI tied them on in general aisle over my t shirt, that caused some funny looks. There wasn’t much I liked, but at least I have a few tops now, even if I give them to a charity shop when I get home.

Good excuse for new clothes Linda.
Yes the roadworks on the A66 are really annoying and seem to have been there for ages,

I looked at the photo of the food Florence, were any of the cakes yours?
It took us ages to get to Center Parcs because of all the road works on the A66. It took 45 minutes longer than it was supposed to :-(
I made a creamy tomato risotto for dinner. As I was eating it, one of the cherry tomatoes exploded as I cut into it and squirted all down my t shirt. That was annoying, but even more so when I unpacked and realised that I have forgotten all of my tops. So all I have is one dirty t shirt. We will have to go to Penrith in the morning as see what I can find to buy :-(

Linda your brain was probably buzzing with 'things to do' which is why you couldn't sleep. Hopefully you will get some time to yourself at Centre parcs (but I somehow doubt it), Anyway have a lovely time.

Well done on all your prizes Florence. I just couldn’t go to sleep last night and when I did, I woke up very early, so I only got about three and a half hours sleep. I had taken Esme to Lightwater Valley yesterday , so I was tired last night, so goodness knows why I could sleep. I have felt like a zombie today and can’t wait to go to bed, but Inam hanging on for as long as I can. I have been sorting everything out for Centre Parcs tomorrow, we don’t need to leave until after lunch , so I have plenty of time in the morning.

I am glad that you got through the storm without any major mishap Joan. We missed most of the bad weather, we did have some rain overnight and it was very windy yesterday, but not too.
I took Eve to do her volunteering . I went for a very leisurely lunch, then pottered around the shops before collecting her to come home.
I have had a very lazy day today. I started packing all the non perishable food for Centre Parcs this morning, but that didn’t take long. I am taking Esme to Lightwater Valley tomorrow , so that will fill the day in. On Thursday, I will buy all of the bread, veg fruit etc. That means on Friday when we go to the Lakes, we will call in the supermarket at Penrith to buy all the things for the fridge. There is a supermarket on the Center Parcs site, but obviously it is more expensive and as it isn’t huge, it won’t have all the things which we need,
