We drove through Far Sawrey Ann, I should have waved to you.
We were staying in Winster near Windermere Actually if you have a spare million and a half, you can buy it as it is for sale :-D. Just google Broom Hill, Winster, Windermere and you should find it. The estate agent is ashdownjones.co.uk

Hello to all.
Well the heavens have opened up this afternoon, quite a deluge & no sign of any let up just yet.

The water bowie must be full now so that's good, & the plants are getting a really good soaking so I won't have to trek around the garden several times filling & carrying the watering can for a while, lol.

My Oil boiler ( outside) is playing up today, it's trying to fire up but not getting there, our wonderful family friend has taken a look & is hoping to get the spare part that it needs.
I have to keep the heating on & ticking over as it loses pressure very quickly if it is switched off, something to do with the low pessure of our private water supply !!

I have been cleaning our bedroom today, in a fashion, not easy on my own, hubby was a great help when it came to moving the furniture around.
The only thing I can't shift is the bed so left it till last & now waiting for daughter to come over & help with the mattress & & then hoover under the bed itself, I soo hate having to ask for help but I just can't do it on my own.

Joan.

A late good afternoon to all

making the most of a day with no rain....yet, no midges....yet and pleasantly warm but not hot. So was outside most of the afternoon watering, weeding and repotting etc and now garden looking very good. Just need some sun to open some more roses.

My first rose opened today, a beautiful yellow one and 2 on my coco rose are nearly opening and they are pink. A lovely pansy self seeded itself into one of my rose plants and grew so big I had to lift it and put it in its own pot. I dont have any pansies this year so who knows how it got there??

Joan , when it rains, it saves so much time watering. The cans are heavy and it takes forever watering everything.

i have in the oven a chicken casserole in the roasting dish and should be ready at 5.30. I just threw all sorts of veg and 4 chicken breasts together with some herbs, pepper etc plus some small roasties. The aroma in the kitchen smells wonderful.

OH is putting up his new weather station I bought him for his birthday. It comes with an I pad so from indoors you can see allsorts like wind speed, temp and a host of other things. He is currently attaching it to a fence post with nuts and bolts so hoping in the the winter, it wont blow away!!

Well better sort out the kitchen ready for dinner and get the last lot of towels in before the rain comes. Luckily the breeze has been enough to dry all the towells we had to use to get the car seats dry. The car is now all dried out and back to normal.
leaving the windows open all night is not an exercise that will be repeated ;-)

Where is everyone i wonder?

Well had a busy busy day painting the kitchen. I suggested to OH he could wear my pink shower car so he wouldn't get "highlights" in his hair. he replied, he already had plenty of "highlights 50 shades of grey in his hair" :-D :-D :-D

So all finished now although in the morning, we may give another coat, just have to see when it is fully dried. Its only magnolia emulsion but a few marks on the wall were making it look scruffy.

I have a pan of red and white potatoes cooking straight from the polytunnel and some peas to go with the breaded fish yummy :-D Cant be your own grown veg.

Turned out nice and sunny but oh my it is very very windy and struggled to water my pots outside!

Hope all is well with everyone else today

It’s so cold !

Met office says it is only 12 or 13 degrees and won’t go much higher. It’s because I sorted my wardrobe out so the summer tops were easier to reach than the winter tops. Now I’ve got to get back in and find my woolly jumpers. At least I know where my vests are.

13 degrees here names and not a glimpse of blue sky.

Well, I could manage the vests, but this morning I've just washed winter jumpers and cardigans hoping I can put them away for a while.
Lighter-weight cardigans readily available ;-)

Looks like we are in for an unsettled and wet day.
At least we've so far escaped the thunderstorms, which were forecast last week.

Morning all

Wet and windy here too and we have to go off to town shortly!

I nearly thought about putting the heating on last night as it was def chilly and heating has been off for weeks.

Def no signs of any heatwave up here even though I keep reading about it.

Hate thunderstorms and thankfully up here very rarely get them.

Happy Saturday all

Heavy cloud here, but warm and no rain so far.

Yesterday, unexpectedly, turned out to be dry, too, with a good breeze, so I got a load of washing dried outside - wow! - and have hung another load out today.

Cut about half the grass yesterday evening, until the midges drove me indoors, and hope to cut the rest this afternoon.
I've also sprayed the drive with weed killer this morning.

So, a couple of productive days!
Nothing gets done when it's raining - which is more often than not - so there has to be a rush of activity when we do have some dry weather.
I can hear lawnmowers in several nearby gardens!

It is cold here as well and has been raining in and off for a couple of days. I am back in trousers and jumpers.
I had my sister and brother in law staying for a couple of days at the start of the week
After that Esme started complaining about her tummy hurting again, the sharp pain, not the migraine which is a separate issue. She ended up staying in hospital overnight while they did various scans, but they couldn’t find out what is causing it. They sent her home on Wednesday night with antibiotics because they thought that she might have an UTI, but that was just coincidental. She wasn’t very well on Thursday, but picked up late afternoon, so they were hoping to get her back to school on Friday, but she woke up at 7am, said she was ill, turned over and didn’t wake up until 11.30. She seemed fine after that, so her mum made an appointment for her to collect her new glasses this afternoon I was planning to take her to Lightwater Valley tomorrow, but when she woke up this morning, her tummy was hurting and she was sick. This is the stomach migraine which she gets every month, so everything is cancelled. Poor thing has had a bad week.
