McB, I stayed in Buckingham with my cousin who is 76 and has a sheltered housing bungalow near the town centre. Our Dads were born in Gawcott and our Grandfather and Gt.Grandfather and some other relatives are buried in the local Churchyard. There are still a few of the family members living in the village. My Grandfather was born in Wendover as my Gt Grandfather was a stonemason and moved about a bit, sometimes taking the family with him judging by the various villages my Gt Uncles and Aunts were born in, but he always went back to Gawcott between times.

I went to see Les (Glenister) who posts on here but is poorly at the mo, his wife is a relative of mine and he is near Blenheim Palace, we could have had a gr meet had I known you lived in the area. Must do it next time I visit Bucks.

Hope you are getting on ok McB and your stumps are healing well.

I have a relative in Aylesbury too, but didn't get a chance to meet up with them on my visit. Will do it next time so if you are near that way, let me know.

Hope you are getting on OK McB, I am sure that the healing process is long and probably painful and needs a lot of patience. :-)

Liz, I am pleased you said thaT, I was going to ask where Les is as I have missed him on the board and have not seen that he is poorly. If you read this Les, get well soon. :-)

Awwww McB, I do sympathise with you re the self-employed getting no help whatsoever when injury or illness strikes.

We have been there twice, each time taking months to recover financially after an accident my husband had, then when he had major surgery.

The emotional and physical healing pass only to be followed by months of worry over money.............so unfair to all the hard working, yet not rich self-employed.
